Overview In this role you will lead global network operations to ensure high availability, security, and performance of IonQ’s enterprise network. You will drive modernization efforts across identity-driven security, asset protection for quantum infrastructure, and cross-border M&A integration. You’ll collaborate with multiple teams to translate strategy into reliable operational outcomes and scalable deployment. Compensation / Benefitscomprehensive medical, dental, and vision plansmatching 401(k)unlimited PTO and paid holidaysparential/adoption leavelegal insurancehome technology stipend ResponsibilitiesOversee global LAN, WAN, Wireless, and VPN infrastructure reliability and performanceConfigure and manage network hardware from major vendors (Arista, Fortinet, Juniper, Palo Alto) including lifecycle managementLead on-call rotation and guide escalation resolution; maintain up-to-date network diagrams and documentationStandardize root-cause analysis and create global knowledge-base content for cross-functional teamsMentor junior admins, help desk staff, and contractor teamsLead M&A network integration roadmaps and design repeatable site deployment blueprintsPlan and deploy site expansions and office buildouts with travel as neededImplement Zero Trust architecture aligned with IAM, cloud directories (JumpCloud/Okta), and CA policiesEnsure compliance with SOC2 Type II, CMMC, and NIST SP 800-171; protect quantum assets with strict access controls Key requirements7-10 years in network engineering and administration3-5 years in leadership, project management, or operations management for multi-site environmentsBachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experienceDeep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, OSPF, BGPHands-on experience configuring enterprise firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto) and secure VPNsExperience in regulated frameworks (SOC2 II, CMMC)Familiarity with modern IAM/cloud directories (JumpCloud, Okta) and Conditional AccessStrong communication and collaboration skills across stakeholders and vendorsAbility to participate in after-hours on-call rotation and travel occasionallyPreferred: CCNP, PCNSE, NSE 4–7; cloud networking (GCP/AWS); network automation (Python, Ansible)collaborationstrong communicationleadershipTCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, OSPF, BGPFortinet, Palo Alto, Arista, JuniperVPN technologies
