Job RequirementsPOSITION SUMMARY The Pharmacist Retail fills orders for oral, parenteral, and enteral medications, monitoring patient drug therapies, and provide drug information while complying with the laws governing the practice of pharmacy. The Pharmacist Retail oversees and direct retail pharmacy support personnel.Primary AccountabilitiesReviews prescriptions and medical orders (verbal and written) to ensure all the pertinent information has been provided. Stores prescription files in compliance with state, federal laws and regulations. Issues controlled substances to patients and maintains records as required by law. Monitors drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose. Reads, extracts, and interprets information in patient records, as appropriate. Reports suspected adverse drug reactions accurately and in a timely manner. Documents all clinical activities and interventions accurately and completely. Participates in the quality improvement and medication use review activities of the department. Collects data; conducts quality monitors and inspections; and maintains log, records, and other documentation as assigned. Provides drug information to patients and/or their designated representative. Participates in the development and presentation of orientation, education, and training programs to the pharmacy, medical, nursing, and other staff. Directs pharmacy support personnel; verifies the daily activities of pharmacy technicians. Organizes and prioritizes work assignments, ensuring that pharmacy services are provided in a timely manner. Supplies clinical clarification to practitioners; suggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff, as needed. Work ExperienceMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (BPharm). Work Experience: Completed an internship of 2080 hours or equivalent internship program. Licensure: Pharmacist Licensure in the State of Florida. Certification: American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Completion Card within ninety (90) days of start date and maintained. Immunization Certified. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Strong time management and organization skills. Excellent customer service. Detail oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with appropriate local, state, and federal pharmacy-related regulations. Preferred QualificationsEducation: Doctorate’s degree in Pharmacy (PharmD). Work Experience: Six (6) months of Retail Pharmacy experience. Physical RequirementsMajority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, stooping. Long periods of computer time or at workstation Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance. May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise. Communicating with others to exchange information. Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks. Workspace may vary from open to confined. May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
