This role will own the integrity of our financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and full compliance with audit and tax requirements.The Controller will also play a critical role in preparing the company for scale, including supporting debt and equity financing activities, and building the accounting infrastructure needed for a high-growth healthcare organization.Success in this roleAccounting & Financial ReportingOwn the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAPMaintain the integrity of the general ledger and all supporting systemsDevelop and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and documentationPartner with FP&A to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysisInternal Controls & ComplianceDesign, implement, and continuously improve internal controls across all financial processesEnsure compliance with healthcare regulatory requirements, GAAP, and applicable state/federal lawsLead audit readiness efforts and serve as the primary liaison with external auditorsOversee tax compliance, filings, and coordination with external tax advisorsRevenue & Healthcare-Specific AccountingOversee revenue recognition processes, ensure accurate accounting for complex healthcare billing and telemedicine revenue streamsPartner with operations and revenue cycle teams to improve financial visibility and controlsStrategic Finance & Capital ReadinessSupport debt and equity financing activitiesEnsure financial statements and processes meet institutional investor and lender expectationsBuild scalable financial systems and processes to support rapid growthSystems & Process OptimizationEvaluate and implement accounting systems and tools to improve efficiency and scalabilityDrive automation and process improvements across accounting workflowsTeam LeadershipBuild, manage, and mentor the accounting team as the company growsFoster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvementRequirements for the roleBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership rolesExperience in healthcare, telehealth, or a regulated industry strongly preferredStrong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit processesExperience supporting audits and managing external auditor relationshipsExposure to venture-backed startups and/or high-growth environmentsExperience supporting fundraising (debt and/or equity) is highly preferredFamiliarity with healthcare revenue cycle and reimbursement models is a plusWork environmentThis is a fully remote role but we are currently only hiring candidates located in the following states: AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, IL, KY, MA, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, WA, and WV.Changes to working location require pre-approval from People Operations and are not guaranteed.Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.Office Requirements: Boulder teammates working with sensitive information must have a dedicated, private workspace with a lockable door and high-speed internet to maintain a secure, distraction-free environment, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standardsBoulder Care employees are free to use our river-front HQ located in Portland, OR whenever they would likeExpected hours of workThis is a full-time remote position expected to work 40 hours between Monday-Friday during standard business hours.Hiring process:Hiring Manger Interview - 45 min videoTechnical Interview - 45 min videoPanel Interview - 45 min videoHiring Manager Final Interview - 45 min videoExec Final Interview - 60 min videoAnticipated Start Date: June/July 2026CompensationThe starting pay range for this position is $160,000 - $180,000 per annum; base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including equity grants in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave).
