Earn $28–$34/hr performing diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance with modern tools, strong benefits, and year-round stability.We're looking for a dependable Mechanic who takes pride in maintaining and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and specialized equipment that support Porta Kleen field operations. This role performs inspections, diagnostics, and repairs to ensure fleet reliability, safety, and performance while supporting shop efficiency and mentoring junior technicians.What You'll BringMechanical expertise – Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, driveline systems, and fleet equipment.Problem-solving mindset – Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and determine effective repair solutions.Accountability and independence – Comfortable working with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards for safety and workmanship.Team-oriented leadership – Willingness to support shop operations by mentoring junior technicians and sharing technical knowledge.What You'll DoPerform preventative maintenance and post-trip inspections on Porta Kleen fleet vehicles to identify service needs before failures occur.Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and driveline issues using testing tools and repair procedures to restore equipment to safe operation.Repair and replace major components including tires, brakes, clutches, and related systems that affect vehicle performance and reliability.Complete engine overhauls and major driveline repairs while following manufacturer and shop repair standards.Inspect and service specialized equipment and bolt-on components used in sanitation and field service operations.Maintain accurate service documentation and communicate equipment status and repair needs with supervisors.Mentor junior mechanics by sharing best practices, assisting with repairs, and supporting overall shop productivity.What You'll NeedHigh school diploma or GED required; technical school training in diesel technology or mechanical repair preferred.4–5 years of diesel mechanic or fleet maintenance experience required; 5+ years preferred.Valid driver's license required with the ability to drive company vehicles, respond to service calls, and travel between service locations as needed.Experience working with heavy equipment, commercial vehicles, or service fleets in an industrial or maintenance environment.Ability to lift and carry 50–75 lbs, perform bending, kneeling, and reaching, and work on equipment at ground level or elevated positions.
