Control Systems Project Engineer II
Job Description: Lead design, development, and integration of computer and network based OT systems for automation projectsExecute OT system start-up, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and live OT system upgradesSpecify computer system and network system hardware that align with project requirementsSupport and troubleshoot project teams during design, implementation and warranty phases of projectsCoordinate with project managers, engineers, commissioning teams, and subcontractors to ensure successful project deliveryCommunicate clearly with customers and stakeholders during design reviews, testing phases, and commissioning activitiesProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers supporting project workIdentify project risks early and collaborate with teams to develop effective technical solutionsEnsure deliverables meet Thermo Systems Quality Management System (QMS) standardsFollow established engineering processes and documentation practices throughout project executionSupport cybersecurity, industrial networking, and IT/OT integration requirementsMaintain strong attention to detail in system design, testing, and commissioning activitiesSupport integration of OT systems with data platforms, historians, and visualization toolsContribute to implementation of industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT)Assist with API-based integrations and data exchange between systems where applicableParticipate in improving system connectivity, performance, and visibility across projects.Contribute to continuous improvement of Thermo Systems approach to modern OT environments.Requirements: Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical experienceTypically 5-7+ years of experience in controls engineering, industrial automation, or IT/OT system environmentsExperience troubleshooting and designing industrial networks, focusing on OSI Layers 1-3 (cabling, VLANs, switching, routing, etc)Associate-level certification in industry-standard networking equipment (CCNA, JNCIA or equivalent)Experience developing SCADA/HMI systems using FactoryTalk, Ignition, or similar platformsKnowledge of industrial networking and modern IT/OT integration practicesExperience with data integration concepts, system connectivity, or scripting (Python, PowerShell, or similar) is a plusExperience supporting FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities for automation systemsStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in complex automation environmentsStrong organizational and collaboration skills across multi-disciplinary teamsCommitment to quality, safety, and accountability.Benefits: Competitive compensation with annual bonus opportunity401(k) with company matchComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with low-cost optionsPaid time off and company holidaysTuition reimbursement and professional credential supportIn-house and external technical training opportunitiesExposure to complex, high-impact automation projectsA collaborative culture built on integrity, accountability, and teamwork
