St Johns Ship Building, Inc. is a full-service shipbuilding and marine repair company that specializes in new construction and repair of commercial aluminum and steel vessels. Operations are conducted in a storm-protected 100-acre inland campus in the city of Palatka just 30 miles southwest of Jacksonville on the St. Johns River.The ideal candidate MUST OBTAIN A CPA LICENSE and will have accounting experience in shipbuilding and/or ship repair and be familiar with commercial and Department of Defense (DoD) contracting requirements. Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.Completes month end close by the 15th of each month.Oversees the production of periodic financial reports and ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.Ensures that accounts payable and receivable are completed and reconciled per company policy and accounting standards of practice each month.Works with the purchasing team and follows company polices and best practices for the accounting of the purchasing of goods and services for the yard.Works with various departments on IT policies and procedures for the organization's accounting system requirements and reports.Recommend benchmarks that will be used to measure the company's financial performance.Supports the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management on a regular basis.Provides financial analysis and maintains the books monthly processing and approving all Journal entries with emphasis on cost, revenue and balance sheet accounts.Works with external auditors and provides all requested information for the annual audit.Files/reviews quarterly and annual payroll tax, sales tax and other regulatory organization reports and all account reconciliations.Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
