In this role, you will run projects and programs of moderate complexity that require a specialized breadth of expertise.Your work will challenge you, and with our Core Values to guide you, you’ll quickly learn and grow with us.A Day in the Life:As an Environmental Specialist III supporting the Permitting Department, you will collaborate with multi-discipline project teams related to our environmental risk. Additional work you will be doing includes:Providing route adjustment recommendationsCoordinating and performing environmental or cultural resource surveys as neededCollaborating with others regarding required permits, acquiring such permits, and monitoring and managing compliance with permits and waste management during construction activities through permit closeoutRecommending environmental construction standard processes for expansion and/or maintenance of new and existing pipelines and facilitiesManaging scope, budget, and schedule for assigned projects; tracking and maintaining project status through department reporting tools and communicating regularly to project teamsProcuring contractors as needs arise for wetland delineations, cultural resource reviews, storm water plan designs, mitigation requirements, and threatened and endangered species surveysPreparing environmental authorization packages for each projectEvaluating and communicating changes in new environmental rules/policies within operating areaEnsuring compliance mechanisms are in place for construction through permit close-out which may include procurement of environmental inspector, reporting requirements to agencies, unanticipated spill notifications, and/or unanticipated discoveries. Responsibilities/Expectations:Develops, maintains and provides guidance on environmental processes/policies; conducts required environmental trainingAssesses environmental risk, provides recommendations to address risk and participates in or handles the approved course of action, including required regulatory documentationParticipates in environmental project planning and implementation, including scheduling, cost estimating, preparation of environmental impact assessments and reportingPrepares and submits sophisticated applications to procure environmental permits, renewals, approvals, variances, and other authorizations and coordinates with company partnersPerforms environmental compliance audits and due diligence investigations, as the need arisesDevelops, recommends and implements improvements for systems and practices in air, water, waste management and/or remediation activities for assigned areasAssists with the preparation of all required compliance reports/certifications and development and maintenance of documentation related to environmental compliance programsCultivates relationships between Williams and regulatory agenciesInterprets applicable federal, state and local environmental regulations and ensures compliance with such regulationsOther duties as assignedEducation/Years of Experience:Required: Bachelor’s degree and minimum four (4) years’ environmental experienceOther Requirements:Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priorityProficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills, Assesses environmental risk, provides recommendation(s) as to the appropriate course of action to address such risk and participate in the implementation of the approved course of action, including development of required regulatory documentation. Coordinates regular environmental planning, scheduling and cost estimating for either OA support or Business Development/Project support. Prepares and submits more complex applications to procure environmental permits, approvals, variances, and other authorizations. Develops and maintains necessary documentation related to environmental compliance programs (in one or all of the following media, Air, Water, Waste, SPCC, Hazardous Materials). Researches governmental and industry standards for compliance requirements. Assists senior level environmental specialists with preparation of environmental reports, plans and inventories for regulatory authorities.
