Job DescriptionPosition Summary: Medical Samples Technician / Specimen Processor / AccessionerThe Medical Samples Technician / Specimen Processor / Accessioner will process specimens in laboratory and respond to clients and laboratory staff inquiries. They will confirm client and specimen details and ascertain adequacy and appropriateness of specimens. Will ensure specimens are labeled and stored effectively, process specimens and dispose of older specimens. Other areas include working knowledge of SOP’s, and with training, understanding CLIA requirements for SOP as they relate to the areas working in. Understanding of HIPPA and adhering to the requirements, updates, and changes. This position required a need to follow procedures and ensure a high level of accuracy of data.Typical work hours available - Monday - Friday and typically between the hours of 9 - 6Core Responsibilities: Verifying accuracy of client and specimen details Working with Collectors and Phlebotomist to ensure orders, pickups, and accuracy of data Examining specimens for adequacy and appropriateness Capturing client and specimen data electronically Sanitizing work area and all benchtops in working area Accessioning all required data, ensuring accuracy of order and requirements are complete Labeling and preparing samples for lab staff to receive them Preparing specimens to be sent to reference laboratory Properly disposing of specimens at required times Assisting client, collectors, phlebotomist with inquiries pertaining to specimen requirements and turnaround times. Comply with applicable laws and regulations, and company procedures and policies Customer service skills communicating with clients, providers, and vendorsAdditional Responsibilities May be accountable for the operation of other functions within department, including responding to emergencies, and attendance at meetings outside of working hours, as needed Perform other duties as assigned by the Laboratory ManagementExperience & Required Qualifications: Education: High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel Proficient typing and data entry skills Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal Outstanding organizational skills Ability to perform to a high level of accuracy Ability (comfortable) to handle biological materials Resilient to allergens, such as fumes, harsh odors Previous experience in clinical laboratory or related work environment preferred / plus Experience working in team environmentCompany DescriptionWe are a small lab that provides laboratory testing to our local community, as well as clients across the country. We are typically open from 7am - 5pm Monday through Friday. As we expand, we are flexible and looking to keep our days the same, but can expand our hours of testing for an earlier AM shift, or later evening shift. A PRN, Part Time MT or MLT would be able to provide additional support to our testing staff and allow more flexibility with our testing. We are also open to a Full Time position depending on qualifications and experience. We have a new well appointed facility, with recent new up to date testing analyzers.We are a small lab that provides laboratory testing to our local community, as well as clients across the country.
