Tax Analyst II

Position SummaryUnder general direction, this position is responsible for the preparation of tax and tax planning for the Wealth Management Division. The incumbent will prepare quarterly income tax estimates related to trust & estate, foundation, and individual income tax returns and conduct research on tax matters and/or tax planning opportunities related to individual, trust & estate, foundation and partnership returns for tax return preparation. Incumbent is expected to display professional maturity, judgment and experience. A certain degree of creativity and diplomacy is required. Incumbent will work closely with the Tax Planning Manager.Major Job ResponsibilitiesPrepares tax projections and quarterly income tax estimates related to trust & estate, foundation, and individual income tax returns.Conducts research on tax matters and/or tax planning opportunities related to trust & estate, foundation and partnership returns. Responds to notices from taxing agencies.Prepares reconciliation of accounts and other basis remediation, i.e. MLPs, etc., for tax prep clients and maintains the structure and integrity of tax software files, digitized client paperwork and intra-system data-sharing capabilities.Coordinates with lines of business to understand and advise on tax issues and implement solutions where appropriate. Prepares client correspondence, including recommendations, technical issues, proposals, etc. Identifies potential issues and recommends creative solutions to complex client matters.Works with the Tax Planning Manager to prepare periodic comprehensive reviews and perform related research to maximize tax compliance. Provides support, information and documentation to the Tax Planning Manager with respect to all aspects of the tax compliance process, including tax audits. Recommends opportunities to streamline or otherwise improve processes and procedures in the Tax Department.Provides support and assistance with special tax-project initiatives. Professional demeanor toward clients and team members Strong proficiency in tax return preparation software and products (UltraTax CS & Planner CS experience preferred) Must have experience with pass-through entities including trusts, partnerships, corporations Computer literate with enhanced knowledge of current Windows-based software applications including MS Office (Excel, Word) and Internet Applications. EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting. CPA preferred, JD preferred.Work ExperienceMinimum 3-5 years of professional experience in high net worth individual trust/estate taxation. LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in a normal office environment. Noise levels are usually moderate. HAZARDS The hazards are mainly those present in a normal office setting.
