Speech Pathologist IThe Speech Pathologist I evaluates and treats patients to maintain or restore their maximum functional performance level and completes discharge planning.This position will be a split position between Acute Care and Outpatient in Farmville.This position is eligible for a $30,000 Recruitment Bonus paid out over 2 years!ResponsibilitiesEvaluates and develops plan of care according to American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) guidelinesAdministers speech-language pathology treatments appropriate to diagnosis and to ASHA guidelinesCompletes discharge planning according to ASHA guidelines by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferencesDocuments and charges for patient care services by charting in patient and department records according to federal, state, and local regulationsProtects patients, employees, and visitors by promoting infection-control and safety policies and protocolsMeets productivity standardsEnsures operation of equipment, follows manufacturer's instructions; troubleshoots malfunctions and reports the need for repair to supervisorSupervises Rehab Aides, other support staff, and studentsParticipates in a performance improvement activity or completes a pre-approved project and communicates outcome to staffCompletes at least one of the following: 1) participates in a professional therapy organization, 2) serves on an approved Centra committee and reports outcomes to staff, or 3) performs a pre-approved clinical activity and provides feedback to peersMay perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specification can be modified or updated at any timeQualificationsRequired Education: Masters Degree in Speech Language PathologyPreferred Experience: Hospital-based experienceRequired Certifications and Licensures: Licensed by the Virginia Department of Health Professions. Possess Certificate of Clinical Competence. Member of American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
