Method Development Assistant Scientist

Summary: This position assists in the development of new methodology to be used within the company to increase performance. This position also assists Machine, Analyst, and other teams with processes as needed. Duties include but are not limited to: Analyze as needed if MN is over 175 Weekly status update meetings to discuss deadlines and issues/delays Perform all aspects of a validation project for individual analytes and a new machine Ensure that workstation and any project supplies are cleaned up each day Learns different aspects of the lab to help improve processes and improve method development. Communicates with Lab and Machine Team members about instrument use/availability. Completes documentation for any machine maintenance or project updates. Prepares solutions for projects that are in progress. Communicates with other departments/compliance about any updates on projects that affect the workflow of the company. Communicate with outside companies on future projects and advancements for supplies. Complete preventative and reactive maintenance on instruments. Quantify standards and perform daily QC’s in the case of machine team staffing issues. Complete quality control verification for the month in the case of machine team staffing issues. Identity and/or assist with new projects and methodology as needed. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines: biology, chemistry, toxicology, clinical chemistry, or a relatable life science. Previous lab experience including review of analytical data and Quality Control; toxicology experience in a laboratory performing prescription drug monitoring or in a SAMHSA certified Laboratory is preferred. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, M-F Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel: Limited Travel Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of basic principles and practical applications of chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology, microbiology, molecular biology, and/or related laboratory specialties. Demonstrate the ability to communicate written and verbal scientific and clinical information. Good organizational, communication, strong computer database and laboratory or clinical specimen management skills. Ability to perform basic data analysis and peer review to the capacity of at least 100 reports per day. Knowledge of a variety of standard laboratory procedures and techniques. Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Problem Solving — Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
