Technical Coordinator – Clinical LaboratoryLocation: Phoenix, Arizona Industry: Healthcare / Clinical Laboratory Work Schedule: Day ShiftOverviewA clinical laboratory is seeking a Technical Coordinator to provide advanced technical expertise, support laboratory testing operations, and help ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. This role serves as a key departmental resource, contributing to complex problem-solving, quality assurance, and the effective delivery of laboratory services.The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide advanced technical knowledge and support for laboratory testing within the designated specialty or subspecialty.Apply clinical and technical expertise to complex laboratory problems and testing processes.Support compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements, including CLIA, CAP, JCAHO, and OSHA standards.Perform laboratory functions in accordance with established policies, procedures, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.Serve as a technical resource to laboratory staff and support consistent, high-quality testing practices.Assist with maintaining department competency, quality, and operational standards.Perform detailed technical work while managing multiple priorities and frequent interruptions.Communicate effectively with colleagues and other stakeholders regarding laboratory procedures, results, and operational requirements.Support ongoing process improvement and departmental initiatives as required.QualificationsTechnical Coordinator IAssociate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field, with 4 years of laboratory training or experience in nonwaived testing within the relevant specialty; orBachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science with 2 years of laboratory training or experience in nonwaived testing within the relevant specialty.For certain specialties where professional certification is unavailable, a bachelor’s degree and relevant specialty experience may be required.Internationally educated candidates must provide an evaluation of their credentials from a recognized credentialing agency.Technical Coordinator IIBachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; orBachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science combined with appropriate MLS or categorical certification.At least 2 years of experience in nonwaived laboratory testing within the relevant specialty or subspecialty.For certain specialties where certification is unavailable, a bachelor’s degree with additional relevant specialty experience may be required.Internationally educated candidates must provide an evaluation of their credentials from a recognized credentialing agency.Skills & CompetenciesStrong technical knowledge of clinical laboratory processes and testing.Excellent reading, writing, mathematical, and analytical skills.Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work effectively under pressure.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to quickly understand and follow technical instructions and procedures.Basic computer proficiency.Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.Professional maturity, accountability, and a commitment to quality.Ability to work collaboratively within a laboratory team.Preferred QualificationsAdditional relevant education, laboratory experience, or specialty expertise is preferred.
