Project Development Associate

This hybrid role gives you broad exposure to complex renewable energy projects while working for an organization committed to delivering more reliable, accessible, and sustainable energy.The Project Development Associate will help develop commercial solar and energy storage projects from initial opportunity through contract execution for Fortune 500 companies, institutional organizations, and government customers. Working alongside experienced developers, analysts, and commercial teams, this role will evaluate project feasibility, develop system designs, perform financial modeling, and structure compelling customer offerings. The position provides hands-on exposure across the full development lifecycle, including business development, project finance, engineering, contracting, and post-award execution.ResponsibilitiesDevelop commercial solar and energy storage opportunities from initial lead through contract execution.Evaluate project feasibility using customer objectives, site conditions, utility data, and market requirements.Design and size solar and storage systems using Helioscope, Aurora, PVSim, PVSyst, and Energy Toolbase.Build financial models and structure customer offerings through cash sales, leases, PPAs, and other financing approaches.Perform data analysis and value engineering to optimize project economics and customer value.Research renewable energy incentives, tax considerations, construction codes, policies, and market requirements.Identify available incentives and incorporate them into project financial analysis.Develop creative deal structures and evaluate new financing options.Collaborate with Project Finance, Business Development, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Operations & Maintenance teams.Support business development, customer outreach, and expansion into new markets.Improve commercial processes, workflows, and templates.Support contract execution and post-award project activities.Manage multiple active opportunities and shifting development priorities.QualificationsBachelor's degree with a strong academic track record.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including quantitative analysis and financial modeling.Experience analyzing financial, technical, utility, or project data.Familiarity with solar and energy storage project development is preferred.Experience with Helioscope, Aurora, PVSim, PVSyst, Energy Toolbase, or similar renewable energy design tools is preferred.Knowledge of solar and storage financing structures, including PPAs, leases, and cash sales, is preferred.Familiarity with renewable energy incentives, policies, taxes, or market requirements is preferred.Ability to manage multiple projects and development priorities simultaneously.Willingness to travel occasionally to offices and project sites.
