Talent Scout — Sports & Hobby On-Air TalentLocation: Fort Lauderdale, FL | Full-Time | In-Person | Monday–Friday (regular travel and weekend event coverage required)Backyard Breaks is hiring a Talent Scout to find the next generation of breakers, hosts, and on-camera personalities. In this role, you'll be the person who identifies, evaluates, and recruits the on-air talent that powers our livestreams. Your work directly shapes who our audience sees on-air every day and how Backyard Breaks continues to set the standard for live entertainment in the sports card and collectibles industry.This is a high-touch, relationship-driven role for someone who lives in the worlds of social media, sports media, and creator-economy talent, and who can spot a future on-air star before anyone else does.What You'll DoIdentify, source, and recruit on-air talent across social platforms, livestream platforms, sports media, entertainment, college campuses, and creator communitiesBuild and maintain a deep pipeline of prospective breakers, hosts, and on-camera personalitiesRun scouting workflows across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Twitch, Whatnot, Fanatics Live, eBay Live, and other platforms where on-air talent emergesConduct outreach, screening conversations, and on-camera auditions to evaluate fitRun structured interviews focused on on-air presence, sales ability, audience connection, and cultural alignmentTravel to The National, regional card shows, athlete events, sports media events, and other industry gatherings to scout talent and represent the Backyard Breaks brandDevelop and manage relationships with college campuses, sports communications programs, broadcast journalism programs, and student organizations to build early-career pipelinesTrack competitor talent rosters, emerging creators, and trending on-air personalities across all relevant platformsMaintain candidate records, pipeline data, and outreach activity in our ATS / tracking systemsCoordinate with HR on offer letters, onboarding handoffs, and new-hire setupContribute to talent strategy: identify gaps in the on-air roster, anticipate content needs, and build pipelines ahead of demandWhat We're Looking For2+ years of recruiting, talent sourcing, casting, scouting, or related talent acquisition experienceStrong understanding of the media and entertainment landscape, particularly social media, live commerce, and creator-economy platformsDemonstrated experience evaluating on-camera talent for live, recorded, or social-first formatsExcellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to connect quickly with candidates across a wide range of backgroundsConfident outreach skills across cold messaging, in-person introductions, social DMs, and event networkingStrong eye for what makes someone effective on-camera in a live sales or entertainment environmentHighly organized, with the ability to manage a high-volume pipeline and multiple active searches simultaneouslyStrong written and verbal communication skills with a professional and personable toneSelf-directed and proactive, comfortable owning a scouting calendar and deliverablesSound judgment when evaluating talent, including the ability to spot raw potential versus polished but limited candidatesWillingness to develop deep knowledge of the sports card industry and breaking scene within the first 60–90 daysBonus Points If YouHave prior experience recruiting on-air talent, casting for live or social-first formats, or working with creators and influencersHave an existing network within sports media, entertainment, broadcasting, or creator economyHave an existing network in college sports communications, broadcasting, or media programsHave shopped, watched, or actively follow live commerce platforms (Whatnot, Fanatics Live, eBay Live)Bring experience in sports media, entertainment, athlete representation, or talent agency workAlready follow the sports card hobby, breaking scene, or sports culture in generalWhat You'll GetCompensation: $70,000 per yearHealth, Dental, and Vision Insurance: Employer-sponsored coverage at a subsidized rate15 Days PTO plus holidays offPhysical RequirementsAbility to travel regularly, including by air, for events, conventions, and campus visitsAbility to stand, walk, and remain on your feet for extended periods during industry events and trade showsAbility to lift up to 25 lbs (event materials, recruiting collateral, equipment)Comfortable working in active studio, warehouse, and event environmentsWho We AreBackyard Breaks is the leading company in the sports trading card and collectibles industry, fulfilling thousands of orders and running livestreams for collectors nationwide every week.
