Bookkeeper – Temple Beth Am
The Opportunity
Temple Beth Am is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Bookkeeper to steward our financial health. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will serve as a vital partner to our professional and support staff, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial transactions and records. This is a key role that supports the mission of our community through diligent financial management.
Key Responsibilities
Full-Cycle Financial Management
Accounts Payable: Manage vendor records, obtain necessary approvals, and execute timely payments via check or online platforms.
Accounts Receivable: Generate invoices and monthly statements, process donations, and monitor aging reports to ensure consistent cash flow.
Banking & G/L: Perform monthly bank and G/L reconciliations, manage account transfers, and execute investment orders as directed by the Finance Committee.
Payroll & Compliance
Payroll Administration: Review department submissions and process bi-weekly payroll accurately.
Reporting & Tax: Prepare 1099/1096 forms, and facilitate workers' comp audits and pension contributions.
Audit Support: Maintain clean records for annual CPA reviews and audits.
Budgeting & Strategic Reporting
Financial Reporting: Generate monthly P&L statements, Balance Sheets, and Treasurer’s reports.
Budget Oversight: Collaborate with the Executive Director and Finance Committee to develop annual budgets, enter data into the G/L, and provide quarterly budget-to-actual comparisons for department heads.
Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Software Mastery: Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel is required.
Technical Skills: Strong data management skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM platforms is a plus.
Industry Knowledge: Previous experience in non-profit accounting is preferred but not required.

Salary: $68,000 – $75,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
