Packaging Engineer / Technical Program Manager – Contract

Experience: Mid Level Salary: $60 - $70 per hour Job Details - Responsibilities Manage an external sub supplier through the development of packaging designs Serve as the primary interface between internal engineering teams and the packaging supplier Define and communicate packaging requirements, specifications, and deliverables Review supplier-proposed packaging designs and provide technical feedback Track design progress, schedules, milestones, risks, and open issues Drive supplier accountability and ensure deliverables remain on schedule Coordinate design reviews and communicate decisions between internal teams and suppliers Identify technical or schedule risks and drive issues to resolution Ensure packaging designs meet product, manufacturing, shipping, and quality requirements Support packaging validation and design changes as required Maintain clear documentation and communicate program status to key stakeholders Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline 3+ years of packaging engineering, product development, or related hardware experience Experience developing or supporting packaging for complex hardware products Strong supplier/vendor management experience Ability to review and provide technical feedback on packaging designs Experience managing schedules, milestones, deliverables, and technical risks Strong cross-functional communication and project management skills Ability to work independently and drive an external supplier toward established deliverables Preferred Experience Experience with packaging for servers, electronics, semiconductor equipment, data center hardware, or other complex/high-value hardware Experience managing contract manufacturers, packaging vendors, or external design partners Knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing methods, and packaging validation Familiarity with ISTA/ASTM packaging testing or similar validation standards Experience taking packaging programs from design through validation and production release A bit about us: - We are seeking a Packaging Engineer / Technical Program Manager to manage the development of new packaging designs in partnership with an external subsupplier. This position will serve as the primary technical and program interface with the packaging supplier, ensuring designs meet product requirements, timelines, quality expectations, and manufacturing needs. The ideal candidate combines a strong understanding of packaging engineering with the ability to manage suppliers, schedules, deliverables, and technical issues. This is a short-term, approximately three-month assignment supporting an active hardware program.
