We are large enough to handle any shipper or receiver's needs, while still providing the personal relationship and communication that is essential to your business.POSITION SUMMARYThe duties and responsibilities of the Heavy-Duty Truck Technician include a variety of repairs to the company's fleet of commercial trucks and trailers. This position reports directly to the Assistant Fleet Manager.Requirements: JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerform diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on trucks and trailersKnowledgeable in the safe operation of all garage tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, hoists, and jacking equipmentAdhere to manufacturer's warranty policies and proceduresConsistently capable of independently analyzing and safely resolving problemsDiagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues in heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and equipmentPerform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, brake adjustments, tire repairs, and fluid checksConduct detailed inspections of engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, and braking systemsUtilize diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and identify necessary repairsPerform welding, fabrication, and other mechanical tasks as requiredMaintain accurate records of repairs, parts usage, and maintenance schedulesAdhere to safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policiesRespond to emergency roadside service calls when neededStay current with new technology, tools, and repair techniques in the diesel and heavy equipment industry.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical school or vocational training preferred.Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic (heavy-duty preferred).Strong knowledge of diesel engines, diagnostics, hydraulics, and electrical systems.Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.CDL license preferred (or ability to obtain).ASE Certification(s) or manufacturer-specific training a plus.Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability.Physical ability to lift to 75 lbs., stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions.COMPANY BENEFITS/PERKS401(k)Health, Dental, Vision Insurance and morePaid Time Off (PTO)The company (Pero) reserves the right to alter, amend, expand or contract these duties and responsibilities as the companies needs evolve.
