If you're looking to work where the ocean is your backdrop and the energy never quits, Pinky's on the Beach is the place to be.JOB TITLE: PREP COOKDEPARTMENT: FOOD AND BEVERAGELOCATION: PINKY&#39;SREPORTS TO: KITCHEN MANAGER, ASSISTANT KITCHEN MANAGER, LEAD LINE COOKPOSITION SUMMARY:Prep Cooks perform various food preparation, cooking and cleaning tasks to ensure the kitchen remains efficient in creating and delivering dishes for patrons. While no job description can possibly provide a comprehensive list of job duties, the following is a summary of the major responsibilities for the position.MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Completing all tasks, in order, on the prep list as needed from the Kitchen manager, Assistant Kitchen Manager or Lead Line CookLabeling and stocking all ingredients and keeping shelves and coolers organized.Washing, chopping and sorting ingredients like fruits, vegetables and meats.Measuring quantities of seasonings and other cooking ingredients.Parboiling food, reducing sauces and starting first steps in various dishes.Cleaning dishes, washing cooking utensils and cookware, taking out the trash and sanitizing the kitchen.Adhering to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards.Keeping track of ingredient inventory and collaborating with other kitchen and management staff to order resupplySUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:NONE.JOB REQUIREMENTS:Education: High School Diploma or GED. The Prep Cook position requires a working knowledge of mathematics and conversions to aid in proper preparation and portioning of food, following recipes, food safety and kitchen administration.Experience: Minimum of 1 year uninterrupted employment in a high volume, fast paced restaurant as prep cook or line cook. As a Prep Cook you will learn on the job even if you have prior work experience. This is because we follow strict procedures and there is a wide range of safety and regulatory policies. Your training will include vegetable preparation, butchering and portioning of meat and seafood, cooking sauces, making recipes and translating instructions into finished products that are ready to use.Skills:Superior dexterity skills to operate cutting tools quickly and safelyKeen understanding of industry-standard best cooking and preparation practicesFamiliarity with safe and sanitary food handling and preparationCertified in proper food handling, typically through a ServSafe CertificationGood math skills with a clear understanding of cooking measurementsStrong sense of smell and tasteExcellent organizational, time management and multitasking skillsGreat collaboration and teamwork skillsEffective communication skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to follow instructions from Kitchen Manager, Assistant Kitchen Manager, Lead Line Cook and other restaurant managersWORKING CONDITIONS:The working conditions described below are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
