Substitute School Nurse - Nelson County Public Schools

The Substitute School Nurse is a registered nurse who provides nursing services to students and staff in Nelson County public School. Candidates with Friday availability are strongly encouraged to apply.Responsibilities include:Provision of school nursing services for students and staff in Nelson County Public School including but not limited to acute care for illnesses and emergencies, following state and local guidelines and policiesDispensing over the counter medications to students and staff in accordance with established guidelines.Dispensing scheduled prescription medications as directed by the student's physician.Maintaining accurate and confidential health records for students including progress notes/encounters during the school day, care plans when appropriate and documentation of medications administered.Refer students as appropriate for evaluation and treatment by health care providers serving the community.Monitor and assist students in managing their chronic health conditions during school hours.Meet minimum requirements of the position: maintaining current RN or LPN licensure, CPR/AED certification, annual TB testing and completing BRMC mandated online continuing courses, when able to access courses.
