Structural Engineer Co-Op - Fall 2026 (August - December)Our Structural Engineers are skilled and educated to assess the stability, strength, and rigidity of our client’s physical structures. The BSI Structural Engineering team will analyze the buildings and work with other members of the design team to ensure all structures are secure and up to code.Our team can address any our client’s civil and structural needs, surrounding any process engineering and design. Our Civil/ Structural group has a broad range of experience across all process industries. Capabilities and project experience range from building modifications and upgrades, to new buildings and new plant equipment support systems, to complex structures within an existing manufacturing operating environment.ResponsibilitiesAssists in gathering field data With supervision, uses design criteria document(s) to meet the project objectivesEnsures quality and technical accuracy of assigned deliverablesFollows the BSI Standard Operating Procedures and Client StandardsWith supervision, performs necessary calculations and design effort to prepare deliverablesCoordinates work with Designers on a projectMeets individual schedule and budget objectives on assigned projectsAssists in capital cost estimatingDesign of structures for steel, concrete, masonry and woodWith supervision selects appropriate construction materialsWith supervision, participates in construction support, startup and commissioning effortsProvides input to identify individual training needs and goals and receives training from others and may attend outside seminarsOccasionally interfaces with other design discipline counterparts and project management as neededLearning the role of other disciplines and overall project requirements during the project lifecycleWith supervision may participate in multi-discipline squad checks of deliverables before issuanceIdentifies and communicates scope change for disciplineContinually communicates their individual forecasted staffing requirements for their assigned projectsStrives to achieve the targeted billability goals for positionProvides regular updates of individual marketing resumeWhen requested, provides timely peer feedback to formal performance reviewsRequirementsPursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural EngineeringCompleted at least 4 semesters of related engineering courses1 year or less prior experienceDeveloping written and oral communication skillsAbility to manage multiple tasksStrong ability to analyze and critically assess problemsUnderstanding structural engineering concepts and principlesGaining familiarity with all necessary codes, including but not limited to: IBC, ASCE, ACI 318, AISC and NDSGaining knowledge of construction materials, construction methods and industry standardsGaining structural analysis experience including three-dimensional and solid finite element modeling and analysisOur Values: Be Inspiring Be Invested Be Improving Be Innovative Be Impactful Be Involved Be In Demand Who We AreOur Purpose: Creating Solutions, Improving Lives.
