Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Job Summary:
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk will assist in the day-to-day workflow of loadout functions at a specific location. This position will coordinate truck pickups and quote requests with the broker, will also monitor with the broker for motor carrier performance and provide feedback to customers for estimated delivery date/times. In addition, this position will communicate with customers on a regular basis on truck load order statuses.
Essential Responsibilities
Receive customer truck load orders.
Input customer truckload order data into market force order system. Or can delegate orders to S/R office for assistance.
Communicate with customers when the order is confirmed as received and processed and ready to pick up.
Create load diagrams for all truck loads for forklift operators to load correctly.
Confirm with customer for space/weight available to fill in order for customer to maximize the truck use.
Assist S/R with coordinating pick up appts for truck loads and contractors.
Appoint forklift operators for each load to be loaded daily and in an organized manner.
Communicate effectively with broker/s and provide all information necessary for correct equipment for pick-up of each load.
Seek the best rate for the customer and the company when confirming a truck with either broker.
Ensure safety measures for loading and unloading are followed by forklift operators.
Abide by safety rules, including ensuring forklift operators wear PPE and safety reflective vests.
Confirm with carriers’ equipment matches that specified to broker, ex: trailer length, width, style of trailer, waterproof tarps, coil racks, dunnage, chains or any equipment needed for outbound loads.
Contact customers via phone, email for when their loads have been completed and shipped out.
Qualifications
High School or GED.
Bilingual ( English / Spanish) is preferred
Demonstration of leadership skills and abilities.
Computer literate, Microsoft suite is preferred.
Experience in a fast-paced environment with complex kinds of customers.
Proven track record of individual accomplishment, contribution, and team-based success.
