Fellowship Opportunity in Advanced Head & Neck Oncologic Surgery and Microvascular ReconstructionOur organization is excited to announce an opening for a fellowship in Advanced Head & Neck Oncologic Surgery and Microvascular Reconstruction. This one-year surgical program offers extensive hands-on experience, with the possibility of extending to two years based on the fellow's career goals and research interests. Participation in mission electives is highly encouraged.Program OverviewCurrently, our team includes:8 full-time fellowship-trained Head & Neck surgical oncologists5 specialists performing microvascular reconstructions2 additional oncologic surgeons at our affiliated VA facility2 endoscopic skull base surgeons3 facial plastic/reconstructive surgeons3 laryngologistsThis diverse team enhances the fellow's learning experience. The fellow will engage in advanced surgical cases, including:Major head and neck ablative surgeriesMicrovascular reconstructionsTOLMS/TORS proceduresEndoscopic skull base surgeriesOpen and craniofacial surgeriesAdvanced trauma interventionsComplex skin cancer reconstructionsA balanced experience in both ablative and reconstructive surgery is essential, with the fellow's preferences guiding the specific case mix. The fellowship also encompasses thyroid and parathyroid surgeries, including minimally invasive approaches, re-operative procedures, and surgeries for non-localizing diseases.Fellow ResponsibilitiesThe fellow will collaborate with faculty at our institution, selecting cases with minimal oversight to foster an independent and well-rounded experience. Responsibilities include:Intraoperative teaching of residentsLimited research involvementAssisting at the VA or county hospital for specific cases, if desiredThis is a surgical fellowship with no call or clinic duties, emphasizing operative experience. Faculty members may also qualify for federal student loan forgiveness programs.Compensation and BenefitsThe starting base salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $104,000, adjusted according to years of experience and faculty rank. This figure does not include variable compensation or additional productivity incentives and is subject to departmental compensation policies.
