Robotics Engineer

*Role: Robotics Engineer* *Location: San Francisco, CA* *Job Type: Full-Time* *Relocation Assistance - $10K-$15K* *About the Role* * We are seeking an experienced Robotics Engineer – Electrical / Mechatronics with 7+ years of experience to own the electrical systems of an autonomous field robot designed to drive rebar foundations into the ground at utility-scale solar sites. * This is a highly hands-on, high-ownership opportunity with a small, fast-moving team building robotic hardware from the ground up. You will work across electrical engineering, embedded systems, controls, and mechanical integration while taking systems from initial concept through field deployment and ultimately toward fleet-level manufacturing. * The ideal candidate thrives in challenging outdoor environments, is comfortable troubleshooting hardware in the field, and can independently take ownership of complex problems from concept through resolution. *Key Responsibilities* * Own the robot's complete electrical architecture, including power systems, motor control, sensors, wiring, embedded firmware, and safety circuits. * Select, integrate, and validate motors, drives, actuators, sensors, and electrical components. * Develop and maintain embedded firmware and real-time control systems using C/C++, microcontrollers, PLCs, and control loops. * Design and implement CAN bus communication, fault handling, telemetry, and safety systems. * Work closely with mechanical and software engineers to integrate electrical and electromechanical systems. * Perform hands-on electrical debugging, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and system validation. * Support field deployments and troubleshoot systems in demanding environments involving dust, heat, vibration, EMI, and other outdoor conditions. * Design and improve electrical systems for reliability, serviceability, and production readiness. * Develop wire harnesses, electrical schematics, documentation, and DFM processes. * Support the transition from prototype builds to small-scale fleet manufacturing. * Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners on component selection, sourcing, quality, and production readiness. * Travel regularly to field/pilot sites, including the Texas pilot site, as required. * Take end-to-end ownership of technical problems and proactively drive solutions without extensive supervision. *Required Qualifications* * 7+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering, robotics, mechatronics, controls, or a closely related field. * Hands-on experience working with mobile robots, autonomous systems, field robotics, heavy equipment, or other electromechanical systems. * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related discipline. * Strong experience with embedded firmware development using C/C++. * Hands-on experience with motor control, BLDC/servo motors, motor drives, and actuators. * Experience with CAN bus and real-time control systems. * Strong understanding of power electronics, electrical architecture, sensors, wiring, and safety circuits. * Experience integrating electrical and mechanical systems. * Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills. * Ability to work hands-on with hardware using tools such as mustimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical diagnostic equipment. * Comfortable working in outdoor and austere field environments. * Willingness to travel frequently to field deployment sites. *Preferred Qualifications* * Experience at a high-intensity robotics, autonomous systems, automotive, aerospace, or hardware startup company. * Experience with companies or environments similar to Tesla Optimus, Amazon Robotics, Zipline, Aptronics, Boston Dynamics, Agility Robotics, or other advanced robotics organizations. * Experience designing systems for harsh environments, including EMI/EMC, thermal management, vibration, dust, water ingress, and IP-rated enclosures. * Experience with wire harness design and DFM. * Experience taking an electromechanical product from prototype through real-world deployment and production. * Experience with supplier management and production engineering. * Experience with PLCs and industrial control systems. * Experience with autonomous vehicles, construction equipment, agricultural robotics, or other outdoor robotic platforms. #INA Pay: $150,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year Work Location: In person
