Position SummaryOur Portland, OR and Seattle, WA offices have an opportunity for an experienced Paralegal to join our Labor & Employment practice. The Paralegal researches law, investigates facts, and prepares documents to assist attorneys. The Paralegal also independently researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes to prepare legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals for review, approval, and use by attorney.Essential FunctionsResearches law, investigates facts, and independently prepares documents to assist attorneys with mattersSummarizes complex legal documentsOrganizes and indexes case filesDetermines and calendars deadlinesPerforms wide variety of legal research and data compilation with little or no supervisionFiles pleadings with court clerkPrepares reports, correspondence, declarations and complaintsDrafts a variety of legal documentsPrepares affidavits or documents and maintains document filePrepares for mediations and trialsAssists Attorneys at trialAssists Attorney in preparation for depositionsCommunicates with witnesses and expertsSchedulingEnters billing and expense data into Firm system in a timely mannerRequirementsParalegal certification / degree from accredited college or university6+ years of paralegal experience, preferably working in a labor/employment litigation practiceProficient in all Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; Lexis-Nexis and WestLaw, Live Note, Concordance, Case Map, Docketing, Document Management System, expense and billing systemsPlease note, we are not working with outside recruiters for this position. BenefitsIn accordance with the Washington Equal Pay and Opportunities act, the expected salary range for this Washington position is between $50,500 and $75,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. This position qualifies for the benefits below.
