Senior Cloud Database Engineering Lead (Oracle / Azure)LocationAshburn, VAOnsite FlexibilityHybridContract DetailsPosition Type: ContractWork Authorization: Active or eligible for U.S. Government Security Clearance preferred.Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Database Engineering Lead to architect, manage, and modernize enterprise database environments across hybrid and cloud platforms. The role will provide technical leadership for Oracle and MSSQL Server environments, with a strong focus on Azure cloud migrations, database reliability, and security compliance in highly regulated environments. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in enterprise database architecture, high availability, disaster recovery, and large-scale cloud modernization, along with the ability to lead 24/7 operations teams supporting mission-critical systems.Key ResponsibilitiesDatabase Architecture & EngineeringDesign, deploy, and maintain enterprise database platforms including Oracle and MSSQL ServerArchitect high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions using technologies such as Oracle Data Guard, RAC, and replication frameworksOptimize database performance through indexing strategies, partitioning, query tuning, and capacity planningDevelop and maintain database standards, architecture documentation, and operational runbooksCloud & Modernization Lead large-scale database migrations from on-premises environments to Microsoft Azure (IaaS/PaaS)Architect hybrid cloud database environments across Azure GovCloud and enterprise data centersImplement monitoring, automation, and scaling strategies for cloud-based database platformsSecurity & Compliance Ensure database environments meet strict security compliance standards including FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST 800-53, and STIG complianceLead remediation activities for security findings including Category I-III STIG vulnerabilitiesSupport audits, vulnerability assessments, and POA&M remediation trackingOperations & Reliability Oversee 24/7 production database operations supporting mission-critical systemsImplement proactive monitoring and alerting using Azure Monitoring, Oracle OEM, and diagnostic toolsManage backup and recovery strategies using RMAN, Data Pump, and logical backup frameworksLead database patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management across multiple environmentsLeadership & Team Management Lead and mentor cross-functional engineering teams supporting enterprise database operationsEstablish operational processes for incident management, change management, and production supportGuide junior DBAs and engineers on database architecture, performance tuning, and security best practicesCollaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to ensure integrated platform reliabilityRequired SkillsDatabase Technologies: Oracle Database (10g-19c)Microsoft SQL ServerOracle RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, OEMCloud & Infrastructure: Microsoft Azure (IaaS / PaaS)Azure networking (VNets, NSGs, Load Balancers)Azure Storage (Disks, Blob, Files)Azure Monitoring & LoggingHybrid cloud architectureOperating Systems: Linux (RHEL / Oracle Linux)Windows Server administrationAutomation & Scripting: Bash / Unix shell scriptingPowerShellPreferred Skills Experience supporting U.S. Federal or Defense programsExperience with Azure GovCloud environmentsHands-on experience with Oracle to PostgreSQL migration toolsExperience working within highly regulated industries (Government, Healthcare, Financial Services)Education & Certifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)Preferred Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional)CompTIA SecurityCompTIA CASPAzure or Oracle certifications (preferred)Security Requirements Active or eligible for U.S. Government Security Clearance preferred.Benefits Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans401k Retirement FundAbout GTTGTT is a minority-owned staffing firm and a subsidiary of Chenega Corporation, a Native American-owned company in Alaska.
