Firefighters will inspect, test, provide maintenance and repairs to Life Safety Equipment to include fire extinguishers, hoses, monitors, respirators (SCBA), etc. Vallen Firefighters will also provide appropriate documentation ensuring accurate testing and repair.Essential Job Duties And ResponsibilitiesRespond to emergency and non-emergency incidents; provide appropriate services as required including emergency rescue and fire suppression; perform search and rescue for trapped or injured persons; perform emergency medical and first aid services as needed; prepare reports regarding emergency incidents as assigned.Participate in a variety of fire prevention operations, activities and programs including training, fire investigations; equipment operation and maintenance; participate in activities in response to natural disasters, incidents involving hazardous materials, and other emergency situations.Identifies, isolates, and contains hazardous materials in a safe and effective mannerParticipate in cleaning and maintaining fire station, equipment, and apparatus; ensure that appropriate conditions are maintained; ensure that all equipment and apparatus are in a constant state of readiness.Respond to a variety of hazardous materials incidents.Perform Inspection, Testing and Maintenance of emergency response equipment as well as installed life safety systems in accordance with Vallen and Customer SOP's.Maintain emergency vehicle equipment logs.Maintain and track EMS supplies and inventory.Report inventory supply levels to the Fire LieutenantPerform other related job duties and related job tasks as assigned.Job QualificationsHigh School or GED required; Applicable experience should include: Firefighter II, IFSAC/ProBoard or NFPA 1081 equivalent Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) CPR & AED Hazardous Materials Technician Rope Rescue Training Confined Space Training Must be able to read, write and comprehend English.Work EnvironmentReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.May be required to complete continuing education courses as required to keep all certifications and licenses current; if applicable, may be required to pass all test requirements for approval to work off-shore.May have travel requirements with limited advance notice.Occasionally requires long and varied hours.Ability to work in extreme hot or cold environment; indoors and/or outdoors.Ability to work in dusty conditions.May work in hazardous environments and be required to follow safety precautions and use or wear appropriate safety equipment.Physical Demands: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand and walk. Must have the ability to walk at a regular pace for up to 15 continuous minutes. The employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds. Must have the ability to climb stairwells up to 15 high. Must have the ability to ascend and descend ladders (step, extension, case) up to 24' high.
