Senior Engineer, Electrical & Instrumentation Location: Cincinnati, OH (Onsite)About the RoleEmery Oleochemicals is seeking a Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer (EL6) to serve as a technical leader supporting the reliability, safety, and performance of our chemical manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for driving electrical and instrumentation strategy, leading projects, and partnering cross-functionally to deliver sustainable operational improvements within a PSM-regulated environment.Key ResponsibilitiesReliability & Asset PerformanceLead complex troubleshooting and root cause analysis for electrical and instrumentation failuresDevelop and implement site-wide reliability strategies to improve uptime and reduce maintenance costsOptimize predictive and preventive maintenance programs for critical E&I systemsProject Engineering & ExecutionLead capital and expense projects for electrical distribution, instrumentation, and control systemsDevelop scopes of work, technical specifications, and cost estimatesManage contractors and vendors to ensure safe, compliant, and timely project deliveryOversee commissioning, startup, and performance validation of systemsInstrumentation & Process ControlDesign, specify, and optimize instrumentation systems (flow, pressure, temperature, analytical devices)Support and enhance PLC/DCS systems to improve process control and operational efficiencyPartner with Operations and Engineering teams to drive control system improvementsCompliance, Safety & StandardsEnsure compliance with NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and PSM standardsLead or support PSM initiatives, including MOC, PHA participation, and incident investigationsMaintain and improve E&I standards, documentation, and proceduresLeadership & Continuous ImprovementIdentify and drive continuous improvement initiatives related to automation, reliability, and energy efficiencyProvide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, technicians, and maintenance teamsAct as a subject matter expert and key resource across the siteRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline8-10 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering within a chemical, petrochemical, or industrial manufacturing environmentStrong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, motor controls, and instrumentationHands-on experience with PLC/DCS systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Honeywell, DeltaV)Experience working in a PSM-regulated environment with strong knowledge of safety standardsPreferred QualificationsExperience in oleochemical, specialty chemicals, or batch processing environmentsProfessional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensureExperience with automation, digitalization, or advanced process control systemsKnowledge of hazardous area classification (Class I, Div I/II)Key CompetenciesStrong leadership presence and ability to influence without authorityAdvanced problem-solving and analytical skillsStrong project management and execution disciplineExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skillsResults-driven with a strong ownership mindsetCompensation & Benefits (EL6 Alignment)Competitive base salary aligned to marketShort-Term Incentive (STI): 15% target bonus based on company performanceComprehensive benefits effective Day 1PTO and additional company benefits per policyWhy Join EmeryLead high-impact engineering initiatives in a complex chemical manufacturing environmentDirect visibility and partnership with site and functional leadershipOpportunity to influence plant performance, safety, and long-term strategy
