Job DescriptionAbbVie's Immunology Discovery Research group isseekinga highly motivated and experienced in vivo and in vitrocellularimmunologisttoleaddevelopment of pharmacodynamic endpoints innon-human primate(NHP)preclinical pharmacology studies. This position offers an opportunity totestandpreclinicallyvalidatemechanistic and translationallyrelevant endpoints to support experimental medicine studies as well asgain anunderstandingof drug MOAs.You willbe exposed toAbbVie's diverse immunology pipeline, and youwill havethe ability to influencethedevelopmentstrategyofhigh value programs.The candidatewillwork within an existing, highlymatrixedand collaborative team to deliver rigorous and detailed data packages from in vivo pharmacology studies in non-human primates, including ex vivo endpoints.As a SeniorIIScientist you willdirectlyconduct benchwork, design in vivo studies,expand upon existingpartnerships,and serve as a subject matter expert for non-human primate immunologystudiesacross the R&D organization.Youwillultimatelyberesponsible forbothidentifyinginnovative, yetfeasibleopportunities toimpactthe Immunologyportfolio using NHP modelsanddevelopinga highly functioning team focused on NHPpharmacology.Key ResponsibilitiesLeveragedeepnon-human primate immunologyexpertiseand current literaturetoadviseproject teamsCommunicateand coordinatestudylogisticswithin the existing team and across other stakeholders in DiscoveryImmunology.Coordinatewiththe teamcolony and study coordinatorand supervisorregardingbudget and colony maintenancewholemaintainingahigh levelof productivityMentor and coachotherswhile driving innovative science from the bench.Co-develop fit-for-purpose models to address specific programquestionsthrough networking with project relevant leads inthe global organization.Directly developtranslational immune-profiling assays.Establishtranslational rationale forutilizingprimatemodels.Establish atissue repository for rapid test article screening.Present resultsatprojectteammeetingsand internal/external science meetings.QualificationsSr. Scientist II Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and typically 12+ years of experience, OR Master's Degree and 10+ years of experience, OR PhD and 4+ years of experience. incellularimmunology or related fieldPrincipal Scientist I Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and typically 14+ years of experience, OR Master's Degree and 12+ years of experience, OR PhD and 6+ years of experience. incellularimmunology or related fieldStrong backgroundin non-human primate immunologyAre a hands-on experimentalist whounderstands advantages and challenges ofin vivo and in vitroprimateimmunologyExperience with multiparameterflow cytometry, especially with non-human primate samplesExperience handling,processing,and isolating cellsfrom primate tissuesFamiliarity with classical, mechanisticimmunology modelsExperience with ELISA, MSD, Luminex, O-link and knowledge of cross reactivity limitationsDemonstrateinnovative thinking through publication or presentation of novel model and assay development, particularly in non-human primatesPrior experienceworking in a highly matrixed environment isrequiredBenefitsThe compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
