Electrician

Purpose of Position:Install, maintain and repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes.Essential Functions:The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification. Incumbents(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.Maintain and repair electrical systems as assigned.Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment.Check and maintain fire alarms in facilities and buildings.Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors and lighting fixtures and replace damaged or broken wires and cables.Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches and motors.Observe safety standards and regulations.Attend training to maintain and/or improve certifications and skills.Perform other duties as assigned.Educational & Experience Requirements:High school graduate or GED equivalent.Completed related studies program preferred, not required.Two years of electrical maintenance experience.Experience working in remote arctic environment preferred.Certificates & LicensesState of Alaska Electrical Journeyman Certificate of FitnessValid Driver License that meets insurance criteria for driving.North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) Card – preferred, not required.Core Skills & CompetenciesSkills in locating and correcting defects in electrical systems, components and equipment.Team player with good customer service, communication skills and very safe work ethics.Must be able to read and interpret instructions & manuals.Have a commitment to excellence – identify what needs to be done and take action to achieve a standard of excellence beyond job expectations.Ability to adapt to changing conditions and work assignments, prioritize and manage multiple assignments and tasks.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (oral and written), able to follow instructions and adhere to company policies & procedures.Physical & Screening RequirementsBe at least 18 years of age. Ability to lift & carry 65 pounds on regular basis, routine walking, standing, bending. Must pass a pre-hire drug test, breath alcohol test, occupational fitness test, criminal background check and computer-based testing.Work Environment & ScheduleAbility to adhere to strict policy and procedures per company HSE program and OSHA requirements.Location: North Slope; work is conducted in a remote with lack of immediate access to critical medical services and urban community services. Rotational schedule of 3x3 and at least 11.5 hour days.
