This role is responsible for enabling an efficient day-to-day transportation operation by building and coordinating all weekly shipments, courier tracking, gathering information, absentee coverage, and communication.Principle ResponsibilitiesProvide the Director with daily updates on any issues with shipments, late orders, or other transportation-related matters. Route, schedule, and prioritize weekly shipments based on requested delivery dates and warehouse workload.Build and plan weekly customer shipments (load planning) that maximize cube/weight goals Plan, direct, and coordinate the transportation operations within an organization or the activities of organizations that provide transportation servicesKnowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting service quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction.Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems, such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.Coordinate and plan intercompany transfers in a cost-efficient, timely manner.Interface with sales divisions, customer service, carriers, and other internal and external customers on the resolution of shipment issues.Develop strong carrier relationshipsAssign carriers to weekly shipments based on budget/rate lane parametersRoute, schedule, and prioritize weekly shipments based on carrier transit times and warehouse workloadTrack and trace shipments to ensure on-time deliveriesPlan and schedule appointments for weekly truck shipments based on customer service orders and required delivery dates.Coordinate and plan intercompany transfers in a cost-efficient and timely mannerAid in the monthly review of carrier performanceHelp determine invoice discrepancies with carriersAscertain industry/logistics best practices to identify new and/or unique programs to differentiate the customer from the marketplace and drive customer satisfaction.Responsible for internal communications and presentations related to key performance metrics, program updates, and ongoing program information.Trains and evaluates employees to enhance their performance, development, and work product. Addresses performance issues and makes recommendations for personnel actions. Motivates and rewards employees, including Next Level incentivesEnsure that the Outbound Department understands and accepts Customer guidelines and requirements for all logistics operations, including compliance, shipping errorsManage ongoing partner relationshipsRoot cause analysis and problem resolution for all logistics operationsServe as liaison with all internal and external partners for daily operational activitiesTrack, analyze, and communicate key performance metricsMaintain sufficient backup training to support the Transportation Coordinator’s absence.Work with the Warehouse Manager, Outbound Manager, and Inventory Manager and counterparts to share best practices and core strengths. Provide monthly reports to the Operations Manager on carrier performance, on-time delivery, and other data as requested.
