Registered Nurse (RN)
Position Overview
Wage Range: $45-$51 per hour

Administrative Functions
Assist the Director of Nursing Services in managing the daily operations of nursing activities in compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines for long-term care facilities. Key tasks include:
Developing, maintaining, and updating policies and procedures for nursing services.
Ensuring that reference materials such as PDRs, regulations, and professional standards are up-to-date at nurses' stations.
Recommending and ensuring the Nursing Service Procedures Manual reflects current practices and compliance.
Reviewing and revising departmental policies, job descriptions, and procedures.
Coordinating nursing services with other resident services for continuity of care.
Assisting in developing and maintaining the facility’s quality assurance program and participating in surveys by government agencies.
Managing resident discharge plans and coordinating with the nursing staff on services, programs, and activities.
Completing accident/incident reports and interpreting departmental policies to various stakeholders.
Committee Functions
Attend and contribute to committee meetings (e.g., Infection Control, Quality Assessment).
Prepare reports for committees and provide information as requested.
Participate in agenda development for Care Plan Committee meetings and review discharge plans as needed.
Personnel Functions
Ensure adequate staffing levels of licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants.
Develop and delegate work assignments, ensuring compliance with job descriptions and training programs.
Monitor absenteeism, conduct evaluations, and address grievances.
Foster good inter-departmental relationships and create a supportive environment.
Ensure fair disciplinary actions and compliance with safety regulations.
Nursing Care Functions
Manage new admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Monitor residents’ conditions and provide direct nursing care as needed.
Oversee the administration of medications and treatments, and ensure proper documentation.
Conduct regular rounds and ensure adherence to care plans and procedures.
Staff Development
Develop and conduct training programs to ensure the nursing staff is well-educated.
Assist in planning and scheduling in-service training and continuing education programs.
Stay updated with nursing practices and maintain licensing requirements.
Safety and Sanitation
Collaborate with the Safety Officer to develop and enforce safety standards.
Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to infection control procedures.
Maintain cleanliness and safety in nursing areas and ensure compliance with hand hygiene and safety regulations.
Equipment and Supply Functions
Recommend equipment and supply needs, ensuring adequate stock levels.
Assist in preventive maintenance and safe operation of nursing service equipment.
Monitor usage of supplies to minimize waste and ensure proper handling of hazardous chemicals.
Care Plan and Assessment Functions
Participate in developing and reviewing care plans for residents.
Ensure care plans are followed and update them as necessary.
Assist in planning and revising assessments and implement necessary actions based on evaluations.
Budget and Planning Functions
Stay informed about economic conditions affecting nursing services and recommend adjustments as needed.
Report instances of fraud and ensure compliance with billing and cost reporting standards.
Supervisory Requirements
Oversee and manage nursing staff, ensuring proper execution of duties.
Exercise administrative authority and responsibility in carrying out assigned tasks.
Qualifications
Nursing Degree from an accredited institution and training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
At least 2 years of experience, preferably in a long-term care setting.
Must possess a current RN license, CPR certification, and knowledge of PCC preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively, solve problems, and demonstrate leadership and supervisory skills.
Physical and Work Environment
Ability to perform physical tasks, cope with stress, and work in various conditions.
Exposure to infectious materials, hazardous chemicals, and potential physical risks.
Must meet general health requirements and be able to assist in emergency situations.
