Title: Senior Software DeveloperLocation: California, MDPrimarily remote, with occasional in-office work as neededEmployment Type: Full-Time, PermanentPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to analyze, design, develop, test, and maintain software applications supporting military aviation mission-planning systems.The successful candidate will have strong software engineering experience in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment, excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with development teams, customers, and end users.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze software requirements and software requirement specifications.Design and develop software components and user interfaces.Perform system-level and unit-level testing.Take ownership of applications and serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME).Represent the development team in customer and internal meetings as needed.Provide technical analysis and recommendations.Develop and present technical meeting materials.Collaborate with development teams, customers, and end users to deliver effective software solutions.Work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.Troubleshoot and debug software applications.Help ensure software products meet technical, functional, and customer requirements.Required QualificationsU.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.10–12 years of software engineering experience within a DoD environment.Active Secret Security Clearance.Experience designing, developing, and supporting software applications.Experience developing Microsoft Windows software applications using:C#C++.NET FrameworkWindows FormsWindows Presentation Foundation (WPF)Experience developing client applications using one or more of:HTML5JavaScriptTypeScriptAngularReactStrong debugging and troubleshooting capabilities.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to clearly communicate technical designs, processes, ideas, and solutions to development teams and customers.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.Desired QualificationsExperience with automated unit-testing frameworks such as:NUnitxUnitMicrosoft Test FrameworkKnowledge of military aviation mission-planning requirements.Familiarity with Git and Azure DevOps.Experience working with mission-planning applications or defense/aerospace software systems.Experience interacting directly with government or military customers.Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will bring:10–12+ years of software engineering experienceStrong DoD software development backgroundActive Secret Security ClearanceStrong C# and/or C++ development experience.NET, Windows Forms, and/or WPF experienceExperience with Angular, React, JavaScript, or TypeScriptStrong software debugging and testing skillsExcellent communication and customer-facing abilitiesAbility to take ownership of complex applications and serve as a technical SME
