Sterile Processing Technician

Under the general supervision, the Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for collecting, processing, storing, and delivering medical-surgical supplies and equipment. The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the reprocessing of all sterile and non-sterile materials, instruments, and equipment for surgery and other hospital units. The Sterile Processing Technician are responsible for manual cleaning and decontamination; operating the mechanical washers and sonic units; testing autoclaves for efficiency and maintaining compliant records; They assists in the recall process as needed.Essential FunctionsPractices aseptic techniques and universal precaution to assure the safety of the patient and employees. Understands the correct use of chemical solutions and detergents in the decontamination and sterilization processes through reading MSDS and in-service education to guarantee personal and patient safety.Understands the operation, care and malfunction signals of the ultrasonic cleaner, the washer/disinfectors, the steam autoclaves, the AER, the EO sterilizers and aerators, and the plasma sterilizer in order to carry out their intended functions.Cleans, inspects, sets up, and tests patient care equipment according to departmental procedures to provide safe, functional equipment for patient use.Recognizes a variety of surgical instruments, endoscopes, and devices and knows the proper sterilization and packaging procedures to provide usable sterile equipment for the operating room and nursing floors.Understands the principles of shelf life, expiration dates, dating loads, and quality control as it relates to in-house sterilization to provide sterile reusable equipment to the hospital.Stores, rotates, and checks expiration dates on all sterile supplies to prevent the use of outdated supplies.Checks and resupplies assigned patient care areas and exchange carts according to par levels.Schedule Monday - Friday from 230 pm - 1100 pmEducation and Experience High School Diploma/GED, requiredOver 6 Months To 1 Year Hospital Experience, PreferredBenefits We offer a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits to part-time and full-time employees includingMedical, dental, & vision insurance available 1st of the month after start date Wellness and gym discounts & free cardiac rehab gym 403B On-site discounted childcare center Paid time off Sick time for full time employees Tuition assistanceFree life insurance for full time employees Long term disability for full time employees Short term disability Employee referral bonus Identity theft insurance Pet Insurance Flexible spending accounts Employee discount program Employee Assistance Program Free parking The Registered Nurse, RN, Rehab is accountable for assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating care for patients served on the Acute Rehab Unit. The Registered Nurse, RN, Rehab practices professional nursing by utilizing the nursing process and adheres to standards set forth in the Nurse Practice Act of Pennsylvania and Grand View Health policies and procedures.The Acute Rehab Unit includes 14 private rooms and is helping people recover from conditions such as Stroke, Orthopedic injury, Amputation, Trauma, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Other neurological disorders, Bilateral joint replacement, Single joint replacement with specific criteria.The interdisciplinary teams consist of Registered Nurses, Physicians, Physical Therapist, OT’s, Speech Therapist, Dietitians and Social Worker.Essential FunctionsAssesses and monitors the overall needs of patients and family. Ensures that required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.Develops and utilizes verbal communication skills to obtain and/or provide information regarding the adolescent, adult and geriatric patient/significant other.
