Senior Quantitative Analyst (Alternative Data)Salary: $250k-300kTotal compensation: very open - based on expectations, performance and seniorityI'm working on a senior hire for a leading quant trading firm within its Alternative Data & Research Engineering team.This team sits at the intersection of data science, research, and investing, evaluating and scaling the unstructured datasets that help drive investment decisions across the firm.Working closely with the Department Head, you'll play a key role in assessing new datasets, researching signal potential, improving data quality and usability, and helping transform complex data into scalable research and investment insights.What you'll be doingEvaluate and research alternative datasets used across the investment processPartner with researchers, data scientists, engineers, and investment teams to identify actionable insightsAssess data quality, methodology, coverage, and signal potentialDevelop analytical frameworks and tooling to support dataset evaluation and monitoringHelp operationalise and scale datasets from initial evaluation through to production useApply statistical analysis, machine learning, and data science techniques to large, complex datasetsContribute to the ongoing evolution of the firm's alternative data capabilitiesIdeal backgroundStrong Python and data analysis skillsExperience working with large structured and/or unstructured datasetsUnderstanding of how data is used within an investment or research environmentAbility to bridge technical, analytical, and business/investment stakeholdersExperience evaluating datasets, developing signals, or generating research insightsWhy consider?High-impact role working directly with the Department HeadSignificant ownership and visibility in a smaller org.Exposure to a wide range of alternative datasets and research problemsOpportunity to influence how data is used across a sophisticated investment platformStrong compensation, genuine seniority/tech leadership, and long-term growth potentialInterested in learning more?
