Packaging Engineer (Tarrytown, NY)Department:PackagingPrestige Consumer Healthcare markets and sells well recognized brand name consumer products in two categories: over-the-counter health care products and household cleaning products products. We operate in niche segments within these categories in which the strength of our brand names, our established retail distribution network, a low cost operating model and an experience management team are key to our success. Our brands are sold through the United States, Canada, and in certain international markets.Summary Description: The Package Development Engineer will be responsible for managing a diverse set of projects with a focus on product and process innovation, quality, safety and effectiveness.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Design and develop new packaging for Product launches with emphasis on Innovation, quality standards and cost effectivenessFacilitate and coordinate project activities to minimize project timelinesParticipate in cross-functional teams that include Marketing, Regulatory, Quality and Supply ChainResponsible for creating preliminary product cost estimates and Bill of MaterialsCreate and issue component and finished goods specificationsInitiate and support ongoing product sourcing and Cost of Goods reduction projectsFoster close cooperative relationships with external suppliers and manufacturersFollow internal policies with particular emphasis on compliance to the company’s Quality System and external regulatory standards including ISO 13485 and FDA regulationsQualifications:Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from accredited university or college in packaging and/or related field preferred3+ years of packaging engineering experiencewith a consumer products organizationAbility to lead technology exploration and provide technical advice to both internal and external associatesAbility to identify, problem solve and interpret complex packaging engineering problemsCapable of making sound technical decisions on a wide range of issues regarding both packaging and filling operationsKnowledge of SAP, CAPE, TOPS, Microsoft Project and AutoCADTravel: 5% via car, plane, railPhysical Demands: Ability to stand, sit, lift office materials (books, binders, boxes).Work Environment: Office Environment. Ability to work on computer, answer phones, speak to customers.
