Sr. Technical Accountant

Our passion for the well-being of animals and those who care for them drives us to advance the world of veterinary medicine.Key Responsibilities:Research, evaluate, and document complex accounting topics, such as revenue recognition, software capitalization, debt, derivatives, investments, goodwill, intangible assets, and business combinationsSupport the review of contracts by partnering with business and legal teams to ensure accounting considerations are addressed early and transactions are structured to achieve both business objectives and GAAP complianceDevelop well-supported, timely accounting memos on complex accounting issues in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policiesMonitor regulatory and industry changes to ensure compliance and advise on their impactMaintain effective internal controls over assigned accounting processesAssist in the preparation and review of financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A supporting workpapersAssess and document accounting implications for new transactions, contracts, and business modelsDevelop, implement, and maintain accounting policies to ensure consistent application across the companyDrive process improvements by leveraging technology and automation.Develop/maintain relationships and work closely with external auditors, business leaders, and senior management to ensure communication of critical issues in a timely mannerConduct ad hoc analysis as neededQualifications and Skillsets:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or FinanceCPA required, MBA a plus5+ years of progressive experience in technical accounting, including public accounting (Big 4 or large regional firm required)Proven expertise in reviewing contracts, researching complex accounting issues and drafting technical memosStrong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and reporting requirementsExcellent ability to communicate complex accounting concepts clearly to diverse audiencesStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing prioritiesAnalytical thinker with creative problem-solving abilitiesEffective relationship-builder with a customer-service focus, able to collaborate across departments and levelsProactive and adaptable, thriving in a fast-paced environmentCommitment to continuous learning, personal development, and a continuous improvement mindsetWe offer the following benefits for you to take advantage of while you are here provided you meet the eligibility requirements under each governing program:401k savings & company matchPaid time offPaid holidaysMaternity leaveParental leaveMilitary leaveOther leaves of absenceHealth, dental, and vision benefitsHealth savings accountsFlexible spending accountsLife & disability benefits Identity theft protectionPet insuranceCertain positions may include eligibility for a short-term incentive planSalary may vary depending on factors such as confirmed job-related skills, experience, and location.
