Senior Accounting Manager
Role OverviewThe Senior Accounting Manager is a hands-on accounting leader responsible for multiple accounting functions, internal control, and accurate financial reporting across an eight-site manufacturing network. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role is critical in ensuring general ledger integrity, audit readiness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP. This position operates within an established accounting and ERP framework, oversees one direct report, and has meaningful technical ownership and cross-functional exposure throughout the company.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities with a focus on accuracy and timelinessOwn complex accounting areas including inventory, accruals, intercompany transactions, and balance sheet reconciliationsPrepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and detailed supporting schedulesPrepare monthly financial statement packages and supporting documentation for Corporate Controller reviewEnsure general ledger accuracy across multiple legal entities and manufacturing locationsResearch, document, and apply U.S. GAAP guidance to technical accounting mattersSupport debt covenant calculations and reporting requirementsMaintain and improve internal control procedures across all accounting cyclesPrepare audit-ready documentation and serve as a primary contact for external auditors for assigned areasSupport working capital reporting through accurate inventory, accrual, payables, and receivables accountingIdentify and implement process improvements to strengthen close, reconciliation, and documentation procedures while creating efficiencySupport financial due diligence and accounting integration activities related to acquisitions, as neededKnowledge, Skills & ExperienceStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting knowledgeExperience operating in a public, multi-entity and/or private equity-backed environment preferredAdvanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas)Experience working within ERP systems; exposure to Deacom and/or SAP Business One preferredDemonstrated experience in manufacturing accounting, including inventory and cost accountingStrong analytical skills and attention to detailAbility to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environmentClear and effective written and verbal communication skillsComfortable operating independently within established systems and processesQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required7–12 years of progressive accounting experiencePrior experience in a senior accountant or accounting manager roleManufacturing or inventory-intensive industry experience strongly preferredExperience supporting financial statement audits and technical accounting mattersCPA preferred but not requiredWork EnvironmentHybrid role based in the Pittsburgh, PA areaEvening or weekend work may be required during peak close and audit periodsEqual Opportunity StatementTandem Foods is an equal opportunity employer.
