Lab Technician
Job purposeThe Laboratory and Field Technicians will perform QA/QC duties at either an aggregate or asphalt plant lab and / or gather samples on a construction site for testing.Duties and responsibilitiesPromote safe work practices and an excellent safety cultureResponsible for safe and efficient operation of all equipment and toolsParticipates in pre-shift safety huddlesResponsible for reporting incidents and accidents to supervisor or managementMaintain an open line of communication with team members to promote team productivityResponsible to report to management and safety officer if any potential safety hazardsIf you will be working on an aggregate site, you will be required to take MSHA training upon hire and annually as well as to adhere to all MSHA regulations and guidelinesQA/QC testing of bituminous asphalt, asphalt content and gradation, maximum theoretical density of mix and specific gravity of compacted mixTesting of aggregate materials, sampling, absorption, LA Abrasion, specifications, un-compacted voids, sodium / magnesium loss, and crush countsInventory products, QC sampling, schedules, specification, testing, gradations, and crush gravity of compacted mix efficientlyBituminous mix design development, complete overview of Pennsylvania design processes for HMC and WMA as per job specifications. QualificationsQualifications include:Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with peers, management, and customers.Self-motivated with the ability to quickly learn new procedures and processesAbility to perform tasks as given from supervisors as well as work as part of a teamAdaptable to changing conditionsComputer, iPad, fax, fax, printer, and copier experienceSafety conscience and safety orientedSome Mechanical and maintenance skillsAble to learn and use several types of software programsAble to comprehend ASTM and AASHTO standards and proceduresWorking conditionsWorking conditions are indoors and outdoors and can vary throughout the season.
