Job DescriptionThis is the information that determines the position within the organization.FLSA:ExemptDepartment:Maintenance LeadershipJob Title:Shift ManagerReports To:Director of MaintenanceDOT/ NON- DOT:DOTPosition SummaryOrganizes, plans, and manages aircraft maintenance and repair operations on second or third shift, as designated. Develops and implements actions and procedures to accomplish aircraft maintenance objectives, schedules, while maintaining good order and discipline of assigned employees. Develops operating plans and manpower requirements for operations on the designated shift.Job Duties and Responsibilities1Plans, schedules, coordinates, monitors and controls all activities aircraft maintenance and repair operations on a designated shift.2Provides liaison directly with customers, within limits of existing contracts and agreed-upon work scopes, to ensure maximum customer satisfaction while managing cost-effective operations.3Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with customer requirements, FAA regulations, and company policy.4Support the supervisors and coordinate the efforts of department personnel toward the accomplishment of maintenance objectives and schedules. Provides direction, motivation, informational support, technical/professional guidance, and coaching to department personnel. Provides leadership to maintain a culture of procedural compliance and excellence.5Formulates and implements, or recommends to senior management if required, initiatives to improve performance, productivity, and cost effectiveness in areas of responsibility.6Ensures that tools and equipment are maintained in a serviceable condition.7support the operation with what is required to achieve the shift objectives8Prepares necessary manpower requirement plans to ensure achievement of planned milestones. Prepares other reports and correspondence relative to shift operations, status, and costs.9Maintains liaison with management in other functional areas to exchange information, coordinate efforts, report status, and resolve problems.10Initiates and recommends approval of personnel actions including PTO, pay changes, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers, leaves of absence, recognitions, and corrective actions.11Interviews, selects and/or recommends hire of employees; and provides appropriate training for departmental personnel.12Document, report, and investigate all accidents in accordance with SMS policy and procedures.13Will perform corrective actions, as required, to improve employee performance in accordance with company policies and expectations.14Performs other duties as assigned.Decisions made by this role that DO NOT require approval.
