Ryerson offers a dynamic, quality-focused, environment, ideal for advancing your career and making your mark in the metals industry.As a Multi Market Operations Manager at Ryerson, you will be responsible for providing guidance and leadership to branch Operations Managers and lead supervisors within the specified territory, as well as supporting local supervisors and warehouse employees.Roles and ResponsibilitiesWork with Operations Managers (direct reports) on accountability to financial and operational responsibilities. Partner with other Operations team members to drive safety initiatives, productivity improvements, quality, on time delivery, equipment maintenance, and CAPEXUtilize and monitor KPI metrics for operations and provide updates to the leadership team and other stakeholders. Act as a resource for operations leadership in the field to remove roadblocks and drive the Ryerson Production System forwardOversees the facility and truck fleet management, including ensuring all equipment is fully utilized in order to service the warehouse properly. Takes ownership of DOT compliance for all private fleet drivers within the multi-marketOversees machine and building maintenance ensuring preventative maintenance programs are in place and followed to minimize downtimeReview and approve proposed promotions, dismissals or disciplinary actions for warehouse employeesAll other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice RequirementsBachelors Degree required5 -10 years in a management role in a metals processing or distribution industry is preferredDemonstrated leadership skills with the ability to train and mentor employeesSolid understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and DOT regulations if managing a private fleetDemonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives - e.g. lean manufacturing, 5S, 6 -sigma etcExposure to contract negotiations, communication with Business Agents, and administration of Collective Agreements and Grievance Processes (where applicable)Knowledge of statistical process control, warehousing, metal handling, equipment operation, and transportation regulations and procedures#LI-RS1
