Program Manager – ESG PolicyContract through 11/6/202640 hrs/weekRemote USOur client is seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead ESG policy initiatives across their global business units. This is a challenging role sitting at the intersection of regulatory interpretation, internal controls, and cross-functional program execution. You'll work with industry frameworks, emerging and finalized regulations to translate complex requirements into clear operational guardrails, and drive adoption across the business. A key part of the role is distilling regulatory and industry complexity into simple, actionable rules the organization can actually follow, while ensuring nothing is unaccounted for from a controls perspective. Key ResponsibilitiesFramework interpretation: Understand the intent and business implications of sustainability regulations (e.g.,CSRD) and industry frameworks (e.g., GHGP) for corporate sustainability operations. Translate requirements — developed in partnership with external advisors — into practical internal policy frameworks. Challenge and streamline how requirements are applied to our operations.Policy operationalization: Move existing sustainability policies from design into formal controls, ensuring all obligations are captured, governed, and nothing falls through the cracks.Direct external advisors: Manage and direct the work of consultants. Own the output and drive toward simplicity and clarity.Cross-functional stakeholder engagement: Engage and elicit requirements from sustainability subject-matter experts across corporate programs. Socialize policy and operational changes across business units. Gather feasibility feedback, align on implementation, and make sure policies are understood and actionable on the ground.Emerging areas: Lead work in evolving spaces including market instruments, abatement strategies, and sustainability forecasting. Adaptability and creative thinking are essential.Executive communications: Write director- and executive-level communications, proposals, one-pagers, and internal docs that clearly convey strategic recommendations and policy implications.Program reporting: Monitor initiative progress, identify gaps, and report outcomes to leadership.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, or equivalent experience6+ years in sustainability, environmental management, or a related field, with experience leading complex initiatives in large organizationsFamiliarity with CSRD, GHGP, and related disclosure and measurement frameworksExperience in the controllership space — understanding how policy translates into operational controls — strongly preferredStrong analytical skills with the ability to engage with technical detail while keeping strategic perspectiveProven ability to simplify complex requirements into clear, workable guidelinesStrong written communication skills, including executive-level documents and proposalsComfortable operating in ambiguous, evolving regulatory environments and enterprise level organizations
