Mortgage Sales Assistant Role SummaryThe Sales Assistant serves as the primary driver of client follow-up, relationship engagement, and business development support throughout the mortgage process. This role ensures clients remain engaged from preapproval through contract, referral partners receive consistent communication, and post-closing opportunities are maximized through reviews, testimonials, and ongoing relationship-building. While not responsible for loan structuring or origination, the Sales Assistant focuses on maintaining high-quality client experience, managing outstanding preapproval documentation, keeping buyers engaged during their home search, supporting referral partner relationships, and helping convert business development opportunities into long-term relationships and future business.Key ResponsibilitiesFollow up with clients on all outstanding document requests needed for preapproval.Keep preapproval clients engaged after preapproval and before they go under contract.Maintain regular communication with clients to ensure they remain connected, informed, and supported throughout the home search process.Follow up with referral partners, including realtors, builders, closing attorneys, and other business partners.Set up appointments and meetings with listing agents to help grow Originators referral network.Support business development efforts by creating consistent touchpoints with clients and referral partners.Track follow-up opportunities and ensure no client, lead, or partner relationship falls through the cracks.Assist in nurturing preapproved clients and helping move them toward contract.Follow up after closing to request customer reviews, testimonials, and referrals.Help strengthen the client and referral partner experience through proactive, professional communication.Partner closely with assigned Originator and the Production Partner to ensure follow-up efforts support overall production, growth, and relationship goals.QualificationsPrior mortgage, real estate, sales support, customer service, or relationship management experience preferred.MLO licensure is a nice-to-have, not a must-haveStrong follow-up, organization, and communication skills.Comfortable speaking with clients, realtors, builders, closing attorneys, and other referral partners.Ability to manage multiple follow-up tracks at once without losing detail.Positive, proactive, and relationship-focused.Comfortable asking for appointments, reviews, testimonials, and referrals.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work closely with a high-producing mortgage team in a fast-paced environment.
