Backend Developer – Java / Node.js, Microservices & SecurityIrving Texas Experience: 7+ yearsWe're looking for a Backend Developer with strong expertise in Java and Node.js to design, build, and secure scalable microservices. You'll work across the stack to deliver high-performance, secure APIs and services that power our core products.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain backend microservices using Java (Spring Boot) and Node.js (Express/NestJS)Build and consume RESTful APIs and event-driven services (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar)Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth 2.0, JWT, SSO, RBAC)Apply secure coding practices to prevent common vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10 — injection, XSS, CSRF, etc.)Design and optimize database schemas (SQL and NoSQL)Containerize services using Docker and deploy via KubernetesCollaborate with DevOps/Security teams on vulnerability scanning, secrets management, and secure CI/CD pipelinesWrite unit, integration, and security testsParticipate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and threat modelingMonitor and troubleshoot production systems for performance and security issuesRequired Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experienceStrong hands-on experience with Java (Spring Boot/Spring Cloud) and Node.jsProven experience building and deploying microservices architecturesSolid understanding of application security: encryption, secure authentication/authorization, API security, secrets management (Vault, KMS)Experience with API gateways, service mesh (e.g., Istio), or similarFamiliarity with SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB/Redis) databasesExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)Knowledge of OWASP guidelines and secure SDLC practicesStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work in an agile teamNice to HaveSecurity certifications (CEH, OSCP, Security+) or security-focused project experienceExperience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ)Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)Experience with monitoring/logging tools (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana)
