Elementary Principal

DutiesMadison CUSD #12 has one elementary school grades PreK - 5th with 350 students. We are searching for a student-centered leader who communicates effectively, forms strong relationships, and leads collaboratively.Demonstrates a sound work ethic and positive attitude while carrying out the responsibilities of the positionEstablishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the schoolInitiates, designs, and implements programs to meet the specific academic and social/emotional needs of all studentsUtilizes appropriate assessment data to analyze student achievement and provides recommendations to maintain or improve achievement for all studentsPrepares and submits the school's budgetary requests to the central office, and monitors expenditure of funds, including student activity fundsPrepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, and all other paperwork required or appropriate to meet local, state, and federal requirementsWorks with the superintendent or designated district office staff on school issues of district-wide importanceKeeps the superintendent informed of events and activities of an unusual nature, as well as routine mattersInterprets and enforces district policies and administrative regulationsMaintains regular communication with students, staff, and parentsPromotes the school community connection through positive engagement with students, parents, and the larger communityLeads in the development, articulation, and monitoring of the instructional programMaintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary with adopted district policyStructures school time to provide appropriate time to achieve the instructional goals of the schoolSupports the curriculum coordinator in the development, revision, and evaluation of the curriculum at the building levelAttends special events held to recognize student achievement, school-sponsored activities, functions, and athletic eventsAssumes responsibility for the collection and maintenance of all students' recordsKeeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings when approved by the superintendentAssumes the responsibility of his/her professional growth and development through memberships in professional organizations and attendance at appropriate regional, state, and/or national meetings and certification renewal programsSupervises all professional, paraprofessional, administrative, and non-professional personnel assigned to the school and evaluates personnel within the adopted district policy using approved tools/forms and proceduresAssists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating the school's professional staffCreates the master teaching schedule and any special assignmentsOrients newly assigned staff members and assists in their developmentConducts staff meetings as necessary for the proper functioning of the schoolSupports the in-service orientation and training of teachers, with special responsibility for staff administrative procedures and instructionsRecommends, according to established procedures, the removal of a teacher whose performance is unsatisfactoryAssumes responsibility for the administration of the school safety planSupervises the use of the school facilities for both academic and non-academic purposesPlans and supervises fire drills and an emergency preparedness programAsserts leadership in times of school crises following established Board policyProvides for appropriate inventories of property and for the security and accountability for that propertySupervises all activities and programs that are relevant to the school's curriculumParticipates in principals' meetings and other such meetings as required or appropriateAssumes responsibility for all official school correspondence and news releasesActs as liaison between the school and community, interpreting activities and policies of the school, and encouraging community participation in school lifeServes as a member of committees and attends such meetings as directed by the superintendentDelegates authority to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principalAssumes responsibility for other duties as assigned by the superintendentQualificationsType 75 or equivalent Professional Educator Licensure (PEL)Illinois Teacher Evaluation Certification.Master's Degree in an educationally related field preferred.3-5 Years of Teaching Experience and Strong Communication Skills.Salary/BenefitsThis is an 11 month position.Hiring Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000Salary offered to be commensurate with education and experience.Benefits include a competitive benefits package, including health/dental/vision/life insurance;
