Shipping Clerk I Fenton, Michigan Contract Position - Day Shift position Pay Rate: up to $21.00 per hour (based on proven work history) Description of the Shipping Clerk I:Process packages for deliveries using UPS and FedEx softwareBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Dynamics AX SoftwareVerifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties: Compares identifying information and counts, weights, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bill of lading, invoices, orders, or other recordsAffixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartonsInserts items into containersNails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tapeStamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containersPosts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postageUnpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and/or shortages. Routes items to departmentsLoads all welding and assembly systems on flatbed truck for delivery to customer plants. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specificationsMaintains inventory of shipping materials and suppliesOperates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work areaPlan shipments and organizes transportation for customer deliveriesPerforms light maintenance and cleaning of company owned trucksKeeps the Shipping and Receiving area clean and neat at all timesUnderstands and follows safety & environmental regulations and identifies safety/environmental concernsAdheres to the Quality System and participates in continuous improvementRegular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this jobEducation and Experience Requirements of the Shipping Clerk I:High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceAt least 2 years Shipping & Receiving experienceAt least 2 years of Hi-lo experience A successful candidate will be subject to a background check and must receive satisfactory results of the same, as a condition of joining the team.By applying for this role, you confirm that all information submitted is accurate and complete.
