Job DescriptionWhat is the opportunity? This role leads RBC's sourcing strategy and execution across the enterprise. You will build and manage a high-performing team of sourcing professionals who partner with business units to understand their needs, develop tailored sourcing strategies, and negotiate supplier agreements that deliver cost savings and sustainable value.Your core responsibilities are to align sourcing initiatives with strategic category plans, optimize total value from RBC's supplier base, and ensure reliable, cost-effective supply chain execution. You will lead relationships with both internal clients and key suppliers, translating business requirements into clear sourcing roadmaps and managing negotiations across deals of varying complexity and risk.This is a critical leadership role that bridges strategy and execution ensuring business units receive dedicated support while suppliers deliver solutions that meet operational and financial targets.What will you do?Relationship Management Leads executive stakeholder engagement, influences decision makers, and establishes governance frameworks for stakeholder managementBuilds and maintains trusted supplier relationships to optimize pricing, quality, and all value drivers whilst balancing the risk outcomesDevelops contingency supplier plans aligned with sourcing strategy and business unit objectivesLeverages industry experts, associations, and peers to identify and benchmark best practicesSourcing Strategy Development & Opportunity AssessmentStrategy Alignment & Planning – Aligns sourcing execution with enterprise strategy and Strategic Category Management vision; identifies opportunities and develops supplier strategy recommendations with business unit buy-inGovernance & Risk Management – Supports enterprise-wide sourcing policies, standards, and supplier performance frameworks; identifies vulnerabilities, conducts risk assessments, and implements corrective actions and early warning systemsExecutive Leadership – Presents supplier strategy recommendations to senior executives for approval; scopes and prioritizes new sourcing opportunities for leadership consideration; provides strategic guidance on complex procurement planningStakeholder Consideration – Evaluates supplier options against organizational objectives while accounting for social, cultural, and stakeholder interestsDecision Evaluation and Contract ExecutionMakes decisions on sensitive or controversial procurement evaluations and processesLeads complex deal negotiations to secure optimal agreements on quality, cost, timing, and supplier termsEstablishes and adapts negotiation strategies and parameters across organizational levelsDrafts deal principles and leads contract preparation for complex transactionsMaintains and regularly reviews procurement tools and templates including central contract repository to ensure compliance and consistencyAdvises internal clients on complex procurement issues and compels influence with all parties (Clients and Suppliers) to resolve disputesGovernance, Risk and ControlsEnsures adherence and compliance with procurement policies, processes, and procedures to ensure quality goods are acquired efficiently, on time, and cost-effectivelyFormulates and evaluates company-wide procurement policies against regulatory requirementsDesigns and implements solutions to optimize procurement costs and operational efficiencyServes as subject matter expert on procurement rules, regulations, and compliance interpretationCollaborates with Compliance and Legal to maintain expert compliance frameworksLeadershipEnsure that employees understand RBC vision, as well as support and reinforce targeted behaviors that align to RBC’s Leadership Model.Leverage the value in unit, department, and enterprise-wide teams to develop better solutions and achieve a cross-enterprise mindsetAccept and successfully execute change while supporting employees through the process, and keeping them focused on business prioritiesProvide mentoring, coaching and leadershipDefine team performance targets and lead team to achieve goalsWhat do you need to succeed?Must have: 10-12 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing and relationship management.Strategic leadership and strong business acumen with understanding of financial services operations, risk and regulatory requirementsDemonstrated success managing complex supplier relationships across technology, operations and professional services.Strong contract negotiation experience across commercial terms and SLAs, category management and cost optimization.Experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing teams.Strong executive stakeholder management skillsNice-to-have:Experience identifying AI and automation opportunities across the sourcing lifecycleDeep category expertise in Professional Services, Human Resources, Legal, Anti-Money Laundering or Regulatory Technology.What’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
