Field Services Engineer
The Field Service Engineer is responsible for quality installations, rebuilds, maintenance, and repairs to injection molding machinery. Breakdowns will require troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components and circuits. The Engineer is part of a team that is responsible for the direction of our division toward improved reliability and lowering our dependency on hourly labor and outside vendors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide Leadership and Strategic directions regarding the use of Reliability and TPM implementation
Provide essential safety inspections and repairs on injection machinery as necessary
Provide quality installations, troubleshooting, repairs, and rebuilds of injection molding machinery. Specific experience with Husky, Engel, Krauss Maffei, Milacron, and Demag brands
Develops plans for testing injection equipment while applying knowledge of engineering technology as necessary
Develops plans for preventative maintenance techniques and procedures for injection machinery
Supply technical advice or service for all injection machinery onsite and verbally
Must be proficient in injection machinery controls
May conduct training in the operation and maintenance of injection machinery
Assures injection machine performance at all plants in NASP
Must be able to maintain good customer relations and communications with all plants and upper management
Critical spare parts purchase recommendation and procurement
Must be able to lead and train less experienced maintenance technicians when assigned to similar projects
Designs engineering solutions that meet the manufacturing facilities' requirements while monitoring budget constraints to maximize production equipment quality and efficiency
Assists in the preparation of the scope of a project, cost justification, and AFE (overall cost proposal) to senior management for approval as required
Maintains awareness of and controls project cost, quality, scope, and schedule to ensure on-time delivery of projects within internal budgets. Prepares any necessary progress reports
Leads or participates in engineering design reviews as required and requested by Management
Conducts R & D activities concerned with the integration and testing of injection machinery and the development of new applications
Applies mechanical theory, mechanical testing procedures, and related knowledge to layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production injection machinery equipment
Works with the maintenance department to ensure preventative and predictive maintenance
Evaluates, selects, and coordinates with OEM and outside vendors for design, fabrication, and installation/repair of injection machinery
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or a minimum of 5 years equivalent experience working on injection machinery
Experience with hydraulics, controls, electrical systems, and mechanical systems
Extensive experience with injection molding machinery required
Proven mechanical and electrical skills required and ability to read mechanical blueprints, hydraulic, and electrical schematics
Out-of-town travel is necessary
Strong MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, & Project)
Experience with CMMS systems
Excellent analytical thinking and innovative problem-solving skills
