This role supports yard operations by pulling orders, tracking shipments, preparing required documentation, and coordinating with freight carriers to ensure the most beneficial service for the company.Essential Duties & Responsibilities Pull customer orders and prepare materials for shipmentOperate shipping and inventory software systemsPrepare, review, and compare bills of lading and shipping ticketsEnsure all lumber shipped is accurate in grade, width, length, and number of bundlesVerify the identity of trucking companies and customers prior to loadingAssist with loading and unloading delivery trucks in compliance with safety proceduresCoordinate and contract freight carriers to support operational and cost efficiencyConduct inventories of lumber and materials as requiredMaintain shipping logs and organized shipping recordsParticipate in action planning and continuous improvement effortsPerform all other duties as assigned by the supervisorAdditional Duties Assist other operators and departments as neededMaintain a clean, organized, and debris-free work areaQualifications & Skills Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructionsAbility to perform repetitive or continuous physical tasks over timeAbility to bend, stretch, twist, and reach as required by the jobPerform routine equipment maintenance and identify maintenance needsMonitor gauges, dials, and indicators to ensure equipment is functioning properlyAbility to work effectively in a team environmentAbility to complete production tallies, downtime tallies, and daily reportsBasic mathematical skillsUnderstanding of basic machine components and operationsStrong eye-hand-foot coordinationSolid decision-making and problem-solving skillsSafety Responsibilities Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hardhat, safety glasses, and hearing protectionDo not enter restricted areas without authorizationReport unsafe or malfunctioning equipment immediately to a supervisorRequest assistance when tasks exceed individual knowledge or abilityVisually inspect equipment and work areas prior to operationUse standard lockout/tagout procedures when requiredUse proper lifting techniques, lifting with legs and not the backFollow all company safety policies and proceduresBenefits & Perks Company-paid health insurancePrescription drug coverageDental and vision insuranceTelemedicine program through TeladocWellness incentivesPaid Time Off (PTO)7 paid holidaysTerm life, accidental death, and critical care insuranceEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Strive Rewards ProgramEmployee referral programSafety incentivesUniform rental programBoot loan programIf you are dependable, safety-focused, and interested in a long-term career with a company that values its employees, we encourage you to apply and join the Rex Lumber team.
