Facilities Assessment Senior Project Associate

ECS is seeking a Facilities Assessment Senior Project Associate to join our Mid-Atlantic Building Science + Infrastructure team in Baltimore, MD. The Senior Project Associate is responsible for sourcing and acquiring work as well as providing technical leadership and project management for facilities assessment projects. This is a client-facing role with daily involvement with clients, project teams (e.g., architects, general contractors, engineers, owners) and heavy involvement in project execution and junior staff development. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality consulting solutions to a diverse range of facilities and clients.ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership: Demonstrate strong knowledge of facility condition assessment and property condition assessment servicesCollaborate with staff members on a variety of projects and actively mentor junior staff to support the overall development of the teamCoordinate and lead project meetings, providing solutions to technical and administrative issues as necessaryPrepare building science & infrastructure reports, perform analysis, and provide recommendations. Interpret test results, identify issues, and recommend corrective actionsLead client meetings and/or calls to present and discuss report findings and conclusionsOversee preparation and review of reports from junior staff prior to Principal review and provide final sign off where approvedDirect project set up and implementation with junior staff and ensure appropriately trained and experienced staff are assignedOversee building science & infrastructure projects and assist junior staff with resolution of issues and training of field staff while managing several projects simultaneouslyPossess exceptional technical writing skills with regard to spelling, grammar, and professional content/tone. Understand and utilize standard industry terms and terminology. Proofread written work and perform peer reviews of colleagues' reports focusing on grammar, spelling, report content, and the validity of conclusionsBusiness Development & Client EngagementBe involved in the industry as a leader in facility condition assessments and property condition assessments.Develop clients and relationships that bring in work, from individual projects to large scale portfolios.Market ECS services and maintain and further develop the client databaseHost or attend project discussions with clients and follow up on reports to determine if there are questionsProject Management & OversightManage project budgets and prepare change orders. Oversee project budgets of others as assigned and review change orders and invoices. Assist with collection efforts and guide junior staff on how to communicate testing and/or budget concernsPrioritize tasks and meet project deadlinesOversee the preparation and review of proposals and change ordersTeam LeadershipSchedule, train, and supervise subordinate staff membersCollaborate with other managers to make staffing decisions and maintain appropriate staff levelsFacilities Assessment ResponsibilitiesPerform property/facility condition assessments, facility needs assessments, pre- and post-construction surveys, accessibility assessments, and other facilities-related services. May perform senior review of these services and supervise staff completing this workDemonstrate strong understanding of buildings and building systems (MEP, FLS, etc.) and experience with data collectionPerform property condition assessments, document review, and report preparation. May perform senior review of these servicesReview reports produced by field staff and perform routine visits to active project sites to ensure appropriate quality and progress. Communicate project milestones with clients and advise on significant changesMaintain knowledge of ASTM Standard E2018 and applicable building codesPerform pre- and post-construction surveys, including documenting target properties and maintaining photo archives. May supervise staff completing these surveysPerform Facility Condition Assessments (FCAs), including assessment management, data collection, inventory/database management, remaining useful life analysis, cost estimates, and capital planning updates. May lead FCA teamsDirect field work performed by subcontractors, ECS technicians, and other field staff while managing multiple projects simultaneouslyQualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architecture (NCARB), or a related field.5+ years of related experience with conducting property/facility condition assessments.Physical RequirementsAbility to walk small and large properties and climb stairs and ladders to access roofs and other areas of a buildingAdditional RequirementsValid driver’s license required if driving for or on behalf of an ECS subsidiary.The expected pay range for this role and location is $90,000 - $115,000/year.
