Substitute School Nurse

Position Title: Substitute School Nurse Department: Alma School DistrictReports To: Head School District Nurse/Building PrincipalSalary: $135.00 a Day LPN/$150.00 a Day RNESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SETProvide nursing care to studentsAdminister medications and nursing care procedures as prescribed by the student's physicianCommunicate with building administrators, teachers and parents regarding any injuries sustained at schoolProvide first aid and assessment of injuries, notifying parents concerning anything that leaves a markAssess students for illness, reporting fever of 100.4 or above and inform guardians of the district's 24 hour fever free policyFollow procedures for reporting child abuse and neglect as a mandated reporterChronic illness management (diabetics, asthmatic's, B/P's etc.)QUALIFICATIONSPunctual and regular attendanceAccept supervision and suggestionsAbility to maintain good relationships with peers and co-workers that are characterized by mutual support, respect, and cooperationMaintain a positive attitude toward students and a cooperative attitude with staffAbility to professionally communicate with students, staff, parents, and communityMaintain confidentiality pertaining to students and staffAbility to use good judgement in making decisionsSkillful with technology, must be able to learn how to use state systems and create local data documentsEDUCATION, CREDENTIALS and/or EXPERIENCECurrent Nursing License in state of Arkansas (RN or LPN)CPR and First Aid Certification requiredPediatric &/or emergency medicine experience preferred
